Re: Training event in NZ . . . I did WHAT???

A fantastic group of vehicles to have worked on Aaryn!
I think you will be fine with the class, you already know your stuff, and are the 'Recognized Detailing Expert in your Area' (a title of one...

Re: Werner Work Platform Safety Tip

Great tips from Mike and others. I have a Werner work platform, and it is great, but if you are looking for a one I would recommend the Gorilla Ladders Slim Fold platform. It holds more weight (up...

Re: Holden Commodore SS Sports Wagon.

I would think so, but probably from the same Opel Insignia platform Tony (swetm) mentioned.

Re: Holden Commodore SS Sports Wagon.

Way cool estate Aaryn! Nothing like that here, but may the Buick Regal TourX is a variation?
  5. Re: Detailing a car that's been plasti dipped?

Lots of folks use Plasti-Dip to change wheel color (including our own Sizzle Chest). For wheels it is recommended to stay away from harsh wheel cleaners, but for the paint anything mild should work.
  6. Re: 3M Perfect-it 1-Step System with 8K Trizact!

Interesting, but seems expensive - about a $3 per panel, using the 3M estimate of 1 disk lasting 3 panels, and P3000 box of 15 selling for $135. I can get a lot of products and pads for $135. I...
  7. Re: How often do you apply your spray sealant as a topper?

About once a month with a non-AG product that is best applied wet (I include it as part of the rinseless wash). But I have also switched to EcH2o as my drying aid, so I guess every wash is also my...
  8. Re: Finally broke down and ordered "The Complete guide to a show car shine"

This is on my list for the next time AutoGeek is in the area (MTE 2020?). I always speak to Mike when I see him, but forget about purchasing the reference guide.

Re: The Cougar Tunnel Ram has arrived!

    Wow, fantastic turnaround Mike!

First time seeing the new building beside the Autogeek building - at least now you have some morning shade!

Re: Love Bug Tip - Rent a car - avoid the bugs

They are worse in areas planted with Bahia grass, so most medians on Interstates and other expressway roads. Built up areas have mostly concrete medians, so less lovely love bugs.

Re: Which do you prefer: iOS or Android?

    Android, but I am technical.
My wife was the first to get a 'smart' phone, and dealer suggested she go with iPhone, as it easier to use. My son and his GF have iPhones too, but they use other...

Re: Detail Fest 2019 - BIG NEWS!

I have been attending DF for about that long too. For the interactions with the vendors, I would now recommend Mobile Tech Expo. Auto Geek has a booth there, along with most of the vendors that...

Re: Rupes Blue Foam, not cutting?

Just a warning - the Rupes blue foam pads will begin shedding with Menzerna HC400. Something in the HC400 makes the foam disintegrate. When I spoke to Dylan from Rupes about it at MTE he said they...

Re: car soap for 100% humidity

Are you using the 'bucket of towels' method with a rinseless wash or regular wash soap? I know Garry recommends his method with either. Since you are doing a panel wash, why not incorporate a spray...

    Re: RIP King Kong Bundy

The old 'Eddie Graham Sportatorium' is not far from my house. When I first moved to Orlando I drove past it not realizing that the small gymnasium sized metal building had been a big part of my...

Re: Rupes coarse wool pad Breakage -reasons

The polish may be the issue. When I spoke with Dylan from Rupes at Mobile Tech Expo he advised against using Menzerna 400 with the Rupes blue foam pads, as it will eat thru the pad cell structure! ...

Re: How fast can you wash an "average" size car?

I will quote myself to make this clearer. I can clean the car and wheel faces in 20 minutes, but that does not include the setup, just the wash. And if I 'deep clean' the wheels (scrub tires, clean...
  22. Sticky: Re: The Secret to Removing Oxidation and Restoring a Show Car Finish to Antique Single Stage Paints

Great article (still) Mike! I read it when I was working on a 1918 White truck. It was not original paint, so #7 was not the answer, but I have some in my arsenal just in case!

Re: How fast can you wash an "average" size car?

I mostly do Rineseless washes and clean the body & wheels in 20 minutes. And after 18 months of ownership there are no swirls. 2 buckets, only a Grit Guard in the rinse bucket, high quality...

Re: 1990 GM Black Paint - Advice needed

Something to be mindful of with older black paint is creating crow's feet. After polishing my 2000 black Frontier several times the paint under the clear coat has begun cracking. The clear coat...
  25. Re: Misc Pictures from 2019 Mobile Tech Expo - Cleaning pics off my phone

Thanks for the pics Mike. I found myself in the Dr. Beasley's class shot. The class with you and Todd was very entertaining, and even more informative!
