All modern day cars/trucks that have leather seats are coated with a clear urethane coating. Whatever you apply to the seats will never reach the leather like in days past.
Technically Solution Finish is not a dye, but refined graphite. You are correct that it will not last as long as paint and requires a topper (WETS) to get long term protection.
Did you clean it well before applying WETS? If not do as Eldo recommend and clean with Mothers and wipe with IPA and then apply WETS. This should give you at least 6 months of protection.
Where does it say to use as a drying aid only and not as a quick detailer? Been using Aquawax as a quick detailer for over ten years when not to many products were used as a drying aid.
