    For the Rupes pads, yes, those will work. Those were made for the iBrid, with the 1" backing plate.

    For the Griots, the ones you show are made for a 2" backing plate. Griots has a 2" bp for some...

    For smaller areas, tape. Such as the hood vents of a Mitsubishi EVO
    For larger areas, MF. Such as the air vent on the rear of older Porsches....

    What throw is your DA? Myself, I probably wouldn't use an adapter on a long throw, but have used one fairly regularly (lately) with 3" backing plate on an 8mm throw DA. No issues.
