Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

So how hard or soft was this BMW’s paint?

Re: The hobby. Who owns who?

I’ll take it too. Once I get the cars perfect I often just park them in the garage and sit while I go about other things in my life. Might not be good for the cars too much but it’s good for my...

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Your wash technique must be top notch. I wash my Honda with soft paint a lot more frequently than the Audi and in over 9 years of ownership it has no swirls or marring as well.

Re: Dealers “man with a towel” got me!

Might want to write a formal letter to corporate sent certified mail.

I wonder how soft/hard that BMW paint is. Keep us posted.

Re: Dealers “man with a towel” got me!

I would’ve declined any kind of free oil change or whatever out of fear of what more they would do to my car.

Re: Dealers “man with a towel” got me!

Not to mention that the wash materials supplied by the dealership are often of the cheapest, most inferior quality. Combine this with no training and a careless attitude, and you have a recipe for...
  9. Re: Pinnacle Liquid Souveran Wax, holy cow it’s good!

Yep pretty much the same here. I don’t know when I’m going to be low on the paste because a little goes such a long way.
  10. Re: Pinnacle Liquid Souveran Wax, holy cow it’s good!

Thanks for sharing that. It sounds like the paste isn’t all that much better to justify the significant difference in price. However, I’ve been using the paste only for years because I didn’t think...

Re: Dealers “man with a towel” got me!

Hope we can trust them to not wash our car when we request it.
  13. Re: Pinnacle Liquid Souveran Wax, holy cow it’s good!

Has anyone used both liquid and paste Souveran together? My understanding is the paste Souveran is supposed to be the ultimate?

Re: Dealers “man with a towel” got me!

Glad you got it restored but it was too bad you had to set aside time to do it in the first place.

Re: Dealers “man with a towel” got me!

You might want to consider writing a formal letter to corporate fully explaining your experience and why you are upset. If a car is washed any way even if the service advisor knows it’s not supposed...

Re: New Way to Wash Car?

If I get a used car, I’m buying one of those to do the engine with. Years ago I cleaned engines with APC, numerous brushes, and loads of MFs.Tedious getting in every nook and cranny by hand!

Re: New Way to Wash Car?

That *does* look intriguing for the engine! The engine is one area where the less water used, the better. We generally don’t have to wash the engine frequently so I don’t know if it’s worth buying...

    New Way to Wash Car?

I watched the video. If conserving water is your concern, I would just use a rinseless wash with the distilled water. I would never use Super Clean or Purple Power as my car soap.

    Re: Ceramic coating detailing questions

Those mitts look like typical sheepskin mitts. You could try them to see what you think. Make sure they are soft enough though. I’m not going to be buying any more sheepskin mitts myself. I will...

    Re: Ceramic coating detailing questions

The only time I would ever use buckets to wash with is when washing with the 3 step Valugard ABC system. With that, you have no choice but to use buckets.

A foam gun takes the place of buckets...

    Re: Ceramic coating detailing questions

I’ve used sheepskin mitts since forever. They work well but eventually I’m going to switch to 100% microfiber mitts after seeing a video showing how their nap whisks away dirt better and more safely.

    Re: Ceramic coating detailing questions

Washing with multiple mitts is always a good idea. I don’t use one on each fist though, in fact I don’t wear the mitt at all. I fill up the mitt with soapy solution until it looks like a balloon and...

Re: Question about automatic car wash

Definitely bring more than one mitt if you have to resort to the local car wash.
