  1. Re: 2019 Jaguar F-Pace Type S; One Bad Black Cat

    Great work on the vehicle!

How hard was the paint to correct? Since you used Essence, is it safe to assume it was pretty soft?

I have a 2018 version of this vehicle in metalic blue I may be...

    Re: Ceramic Coating Product recommendations

That's good to hear. Of course now this makes the number of possible options for me greater.
  3. Re: Review: PBL Paint Coating & Surface Coating - IFINITI QX30 in Magnetic Red

It would compete with the Audi Q3 or Mazda CX3. I looked at the Mercedes version once and it was very comparable in size and trunk space to the GTI I owned at the time.

    Re: Ceramic Coating Product recommendations

Many of those coatings do look good. I'm particularly interested in the BlackFire and the Woflgang products.

My one reservation with the PBL Pain Coating Mike mentions here comes from my...

Re: going to try coating my car

Do you have a polisher? If not, going down the coating route might be more than you're prepared to do right now. You can hand polish a vehicle, but it will be a lot of work.
  6. Re: Still have some questions on Geyon Product Comparisons

I would agree. 50ml is enough for several vehicles. I single coated a Toyota Highlander, a BMW 4-series coupe, and a Honda Fit with a 50ml bottle of CQuartz UK.

I wonder if that much coating...

    Re: Ceramic Coating Product recommendations

Another vote for CQuartz UK but I will also recommend Gyeon CanCoat. CanCoat won't last as long as CQuartz, but it should still last around a year and might be a good entry point to the coating...
  8. Re: trick to apply the conditioner around the sunroof seal

Q-tip maybe? Get the Gummi Plfedge applicator wet with product and rub the Q-tip on the applicator. That should transfer plenty of product.
  9. Re: Is any one else waiting on pads? Best pad choice for BLACKFIRE One Step and 5.5 inch DA?

I use a combination of Flat Pads and Thin-Pro pads depending on the shape of the surface. Most of my work these days with my DA is done with Thin-Pro's.

I'm having a similar issue with a pad...
  10. Re: Blackfire Coating Booster vs Blackfire SiO2 spray sealant for blackfire ceramic coating

I wouldn't bother with the coating booster.

Not long after it came out I bought a sample to try out on my coated cars. After applying it, I really couldn't tell the difference. It didn't improve...

    Re: 3D Bead It Up

Same here. There are a ton of products in this category now, but I noticed this one is only $10 for a 16oz bottle!
  12. Re: Product for door jams, plastic trim and audi fake metal grills?

That's another way to go. I always forget this type of product.

In the same category I'd recommend DP's Hydro Wet Seal since it's the only one I've used. Easy to apply and looks good.
  13. Re: Driving new car from Dealer to Detailer - blue tape or scraps of Xpel for temporary paint protection?

An option to the blue tape is some stuff I recently purchased called Track Armour. I won't link to it to ensure I don't violate the TOU of the forums here, but it won't be hard to find.

    The roles...
  14. Re: Product for door jams, plastic trim and audi fake metal grills?

For most non-matte grills and plastic trim I'll usually use the same LSP I've used on the rest of the car. I just use a QD spray or waterless wash on the door jams.

    Re: 2021 Bronco reserved

Since you said, "another" Factory Five Cobra, and you live near the Dragon, I say do something totally different that will really give you a thrill: Caterham 7!

    Based on all the interest...
  16. Re: How to type in a way that other people will read what you write

Another good one one is: "Lets go eat, Grandma" vs "Lets go eat Grandma". Punctuation can stop cannibalism.

Back on topic. Many of the people I work for are heavily task saturated. When...

For all the folks interested in the new Bronco and listen to podcasts, look up the July 15 episode of Spikes Car Radio. The host has a really good interview with guy who lead the development of the...
  18. Re: Wolfgang SiO2 Paint Sealant versus Traditional Sealants - Test!

    Great test. Thanks!

Last night we had a a series of thunderstorms blow through which dumped rain on us for several hours. At one point before dark, I went out to take a quick look at the...
  19. Re: What can I put on top of blackfire pro ceramic coating.

I've seen you mention this before and somewhere I've watched a video where you used that product as a clay lube for either for a clay substitute pad either by hand or on a DA. It really offers that...

    Re: 2021 Bronco reserved

Agree. Besides the Corvette, I don't find anything GM builds today to be interesting. Mechanically the Camaro is very interesting, but everything else with the car....well....

    So many great...
  21. Re: What are some common myths and misconceptions about car detailing?

I was thinking the same thing. I'm not THAT old (despite what my kids say), but I helped out my Dad by washing with an old t-shirt, dish soap and drying with a ratty old terry cloth towel my mom...

    Re: 2021 Bronco reserved

From hot hatches to a Bronco? Wow, that's quite a switch!

I do think they look good. I have to hand it to Ford's designers. They have a way of reviving an old brand with just enough retro cues,...
  23. Re: What are some common myths and misconceptions about car detailing?

Just thought of another one, so I'm going to toss this grenade in the room and then quickly run away...

If one layer of an LSP is good, lots of layers MUST be better!
  24. Re: What are some common myths and misconceptions about car detailing?

"Waxing" a car (i.e. applying a sealant you picked up from the Walmart auto aisle) will not remove all the swirls and scratches from paint and make it look new.

    Re: Tungsten ceramic coating

If you are not ready for a full coating like CQuartz UK (which I also highly recommend) but would like something to be a bit more durable, I would go for what the guys around her nickname "Lite"...
