    Re: Old wax!

If you want to chemically strip with no abraisives you'll need the following steps.

Acid ( like a water spot remover)
    Alkaline( like an APC)
    Solvent( like any panel prep)

    On that order

Re: Which 15mm polisher to buy?

    Go with a 21mm
    Faster correction
    More coverage
    Stalls less
Slap a 5in BP on it, get a tad more correction

Where the 21mm won't fit, nor would the 15mm..so get yourself a 3in for those...
  5. Re: Griot's Garage G15/G21 Long-Throw Orbital Polisher *Ground-Up Redesign*

Old Griot boss plates won't work though, needs the updated mark II style like makitas
  6. Re: Griot's Garage G15/G21 Long-Throw Orbital Polisher *Ground-Up Redesign*

Yes it's for machine Cooling, I'm just not sure how much the fan actually cools vs a regular vented plate...
neither has the shroud sealed by the plate like a factory Rupes... I'm just assuming...
  7. Re: New model g21 backing plate failure

It uses the newer Rupes style plate oblong vs round
I'll check again and see if Makita plate is newer style or old
  8. Re: Griot's Garage G15/G21 Long-Throw Orbital Polisher *Ground-Up Redesign*

Just switch out your pads more often
l typically do every panel or two anyways

If the machine get unusablly hot due to a backing plate, then Griot dropped the ball on design and should of did...
  9. Re: Griot's Garage G15/G21 Long-Throw Orbital Polisher *Ground-Up Redesign*

Simple fix, just go back to the old backing plate..or get a Makita PO5000C plate
Hopefully the LC UDOS plate doesn't have the same outcome

    Re: Strip wash?

If you're polishing, no need for strip wash

If your not polishing, best and most sure method is
Acid , followed by alkaline, finished off with solvent... reasoning is every wax/sealants have...

    Re: Pearl White wax suggestions

Wax/sealant won't do a whole lot by itself.
If you want it at it glossiest/best clarity/depth

.then best wash it. Igl delete wipe down(acid), clay
Polish( not going for correction, most a...
  12. Re: I have a 5" backing plate on my DA can I use a 6"foam pad?

No because the 6in pad would have a 6.5 face
    .
You'd have a 1in overhang on the Velcro side and an 1.5in overhang on the face side

    That combo would lead to

    Inconsistent cut/finish...

Or 21700? Like M18 fuel 9/12 ah and Bosch core
  17. Re: Makita PO5000CX2 5" Dual Action Random Orbit Polisher

I've done side by side comparisons with both machines(3401)
    It's better in every way

Corrects faster due to more RPM
    Way smoother operation wise
    Balanced better in general
    Walks less die to...
