Re: Griots BOSS Pads - Orange vs. Yellow

    CC268---

I think you already have a solid plan.

    Orange pads
    Speed

With that you'll be good for 3 months and if hangared, will get couple more months before speed wears off.

    After 3 or 4...

Re: Griots BOSS Pads - Orange vs. Yellow

Will the plane be outside or housed in a hanger?

That will help narrow down options.

    Agree with Billy...

Sometimes stiff polishing pad with a fine polish helps.

I got pissed at one time trying to get soft paint corrected and grabbed the Griots 6" polisher---Bam, issue solved....

Re: Griots BOSS Pads - Orange vs. Yellow

I like both Blackfire One Step and Speed.

The difference is that Blackfire cuts a tad more. Speed shines a tad more. For a regular person that doesn't polish much, they'll look the same.

    In...

Re: Blackfire One Step compared to 3D Speed

I have both---Blackfire has better correction.

Speed little weaker than Blackfire in cut but gloss and sheen is brighter.

Of the 2 listed---always, always reached for the Blackfire!

Re: Griots BOSS Pads - Orange vs. Yellow

I have a question for you guys that knows planes.

How many pads does one need to polish a plane?
I gather these planes have much more real estate than a super large SUV?

Re: Griots BOSS Pads - Orange vs. Yellow

    Yes...

Purpose of AIO is to correct and seal paint all at one time and then you are done. Can you use either the orange pad for harder paint or the yellow if paint on the softer side.

Re: Griots GG6 - Need New Pads - Recommendations?

If Imron---That is one hard paint there! Not sure what I would do. Hold on to those old pads and test to see what happens.
If one is to cut imron, I prolly be looking at the abrasives before the...

    And in closing....

Next time you break out the polisher to remove scratches, (prolly be couple years down the road), get a One Step polish.

This way, you'll be able to remove scratches and...

Re: Worth the upgrade to Griots G9?

Griots G9 is a good machine. I have the old 6' griots and in many cases it cuts better than my Rupes 15"!!!

With that in mind---you can't go wrong with a Griots. And at 150....damn good price for...

Re: Worth the upgrade to Griots G9?

It could be that GTI, Accord and Volvo paints may be in the middle and over to the hard side. That could explain not making a dent in the swirls.

I would think GTI and Volvo---Middle to Hard side....

    Re: Had speed stained trim?

Oh....do the same thing that you did before on trim.

Break out the DA and whatever you used before and give it a light buzz cut and be done. Should only take a couple minutes.
