Re: Pads for Griots 6" Da

I'm enjoying the Griots BOSS pads, but they do seem to wear a bit quicker than the LC CCS I was using previously. I like the results better though, so. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

    Are the...
  2. PSA: Don't trust regular masking tape when wet sanding

Thought maybe another newbie could learn from my mistake. A friend's mother in law asked me to clean up her headlights and apply some weathertech brand film she had purchased. (As an aside, that...

Holy hell. Did she use the wheel brush? That looks even worse than I'd imaging those brushes would do.

Isn't the green a pretty light pad for use with a compound?

    Re: A Plethora of Choices

I've seen that before, it's a great chart. I have to say I have been happy with the UC overall. It's worked great with all the pads I've used it with.

I might get some of the Boss correcting...
  8. Re: Micro fiber cloth is the best for applying Ult Fast Finish

It was very easy to tell that I was getting coverage when I sprayed it on the towel. I'd use that or an applicator for sure.

    Re: A Plethora of Choices

Thanks for the insights all. 105/205 seemed like the natural progression from UC/UP since it's the same base technology in each. I have been really quite happy with the UC/UP combo (though I think...

    Re: A Plethora of Choices

I agree that for a daily it's better to leave a few defects and the corresponding clear around them than to go for a perfect look that will be ruined of the owner forgets to wax it once.

    You say...

    A Plethora of Choices

I was listening to Larry's podcast and the thoughts below have been rolling around in my head since. Figured I'd get your guys input.

First, current product set: Griot's BOSS Foam White and Orange...

Re: Review - Meguiar's Ultimate Fast Finish

Guz, any updates on your car? It's been a couple of months now. :)

I too have been using this as my LSP for quick jobs. I can do a whole midsize sedan with this stuff in like 15 minutes, leaving...

Re: Drying Agent - Why Not?

I use N-914 as a drying aid. I chose it because I want to lubricate any dirt that may remain, as well as break the surface tension of the water, without adding any additional "Protection" at that...
  15. Re: How to get rid of rust, bubbling, failing clear coat, and more?

    So, some thoughts.

Steam is your friend when you're removing tint. You'll probably have to use some sort of goo-gone to get rid of all the gunk though. be careful removing the tint from the back...

Repaint the panel. Remove all the old paint->reprime->rebasecoat->reclear.
  17. Re: RUPES EASY GLOSS System - EXTREME MAKEOVER - 2006 Toyota Tundra - YEARS of neglect!

How do you like the Sonax Fallout Remover compared to Iron X and Ferrex? I was choosing between the three for my last detail job and didn't see a lot of info on the Sonax so I tried it. I was happy...

    Re: Removing long-neglected overspray

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind for future work. 5000 should be pretty safe as far as wetsanding goes. That said, these droplets were probably too spread out to be effectively removed with any kind of...
  19. Re: Does the bissel spotclean extractor really work for car seats?

I think we're on the same team here, just expressing it differently.

As far as the Hot Wheels goes, I'd happily make a Walmart run if I ran out of D143 on the job and home was farther away. I'd do...
  20. Re: Does the bissel spotclean extractor really work for car seats?

No argument here. Buying in bulk is the way to go. My only point was that the only reason to be embarrassed by a customer seeing you with a product is if that product sucks and you should know better.
  21. Re: Does the bissel spotclean extractor really work for car seats?

My point was not that the Hot Wheels specifically was a good buy, but that I don't have any problem in general with using a consumer product if it works and I can buy it at a good price/oz. I've been...
  22. Re: Ceramic Pro, opti coat pro, Cquartz finest, or stay with consumers

Go take a listen to the Ammo NYC podcast #30. Their discussion of waterspots under coatings may be relevant to you.
  23. Re: Does the bissel spotclean extractor really work for car seats?

If it works it works. When I get my website up, part of my pitch is going to be that I choose products and techniques to maximize results/$ and nothing else. That I "engineer" my process to get the...
