Re: Question regarding 3 in 1 products

    Very loaded question here.

What kind of car, what kind of paint? Original or repaint? What condition is the paint in, and what kind of defects are you trying to remove? More importantly, what...

Re: Question regarding 3 in 1 products

"Boosting" is a process that's been around for some time i.e. popping a couple drops of a heavy cut compound to up the cutting power of a polishing step while retaining the finishing characteristics...
  3. Re: Pics & Vids: Grumman Aluminum Van Extreme Makeover!

did Edson ever let you know what respirator he's using? I've been looking for one to try out this upcoming season.
  4. Re: comparing Rupes new BigFoot LHR 19E rotary to the Flex PE14-2 rotary king of kings

any reason the L3403 doesn't get as much love as the PE14 or seemingly even the Rupes? Looks like a nice lightweight alternative.

Re: Foam lamce not lifting soap

if you leave it for long periods without flushing it with clean water, it's probably a soap plug.
  6. Thoughts from last season, going forward, and a mini-review forthcoming! (Jescar Buffing Pads)

Thanks to the lovely winter season we get here in RI/New England, I've been mostly shut down for a few months now. The detailing season really is only April(ish) to October. Much outside of that,...

    Re: Official Non-Griot's pad discussion

Well, when searching around I came across this thread, here it is almost a year later.

For anyone interested, I've started using a lot more of the BOSS foam pads and have all but phased out the...

    Re: Regarding product shelf life

What environment were they stored in? Extreme heat/cold or freezing?

The soap should be fine, just about everything else I'd probably chuck and get new.

    Re: Bug and Tar removal

I haven't tried Citrol yet, nor have I tried Tarminator which usually is viewed very favorably.

Personally, I always keep a 1000ml bottle of TarX on hand. I just haven't found anything else...
  10. Re: What’s your favorite polish/compound when working by hand?

Jescar compound works very well by hand on a MF towel. Tend to usually take care of women's fingernail scratches under the door handle with that combo.
  11. Re: How many of you detail inside the fuel door?⛽️

The flaps on them are pretty sturdy. I just try to keep the jet of water focused away from it and mop any standing water on the flap quickly, or i'll stuff a microfiber in it before i start.
  12. Best way to get the wool pads to not shed fibers?

I bought a bunch of the Rupes wool pads recently and decided to try them out on a black GTR I was working on. Being brand new pads I expected them to shed a bit, so I spun them up and brushed them...
  13. Re: Looking for alternative ways to clean floor matts...

If they're really hammered, i'll vac them out, soak down with a high foam shampoo, agitate with a drill brush attachment, and then pressure rinse, repeat as needed. Let them dry out in the sun or...
  14. Re: How many of you detail inside the fuel door?⛽️

certainly do. Traditional cap style? Blast it with appropriate APC dilution according to how grimey it is, agitate with brush if needed, pressure rinse. Follow with one of two secret (aerosol)...

Re: To those without a garage.

I am fortunate enough to have multiple uncles and friends with garages who are willing to let me use them to work in, you might want to explore that option.

I would not apply a ceramic coating...
  16. Re: Add "only" hydrophobic property to my paint?

Its only streaky in my experience when used as a drying aid. When used normally I love it.

Are you not getting water beading with Optimum Car Wax?
  17. Re: Meg's D181 Leather Cleaner (no conditioner)....any experiences?

I think some leather now also has tinted coating. In general, if I start seeing transfer I'll drop down to the Griot's 3 in 1 spray as it cleans OK, but not aggressive enough to pull dye out.
  18. Re: Add "only" hydrophobic property to my paint?

I am not a fan at all of OptiSeal as a drying aid. Far too streaky IMO. It's better applied in my experience after the car is dry, one spray per panel (two on larger ones) with a MF towel to...
  19. Re: Meg's D181 Leather Cleaner (no conditioner)....any experiences?

Eldo, to generate some more foaming I'll spray it into my brush and then a light mist on the surface of the seat as well. Those perforated seats I try to be careful of to avoid soaking the foam. ...

Re: Polish after the McKee’s 37 Hydro blue

Will it remove it? Yes it will.

Are you talking about only using one pad? If so, you need more. Don't forget that you'll not only get polish residue but also the SiO2 residue loading up the pad,...

Re: Best Trim Detailer also for Engine Bay?

I've been extremely impressed by Meg's hyper dressing at 2.5:1. Just enough shine to look slightly more than matte, but not enough to look greasy 'used car lot' shiny. Smells good and self-levels...

Re: Polisher Upgrade from Porter Cable

Also, I got some seat time behind a flex 3401 this past weekend. All I can say is thank the lord I never bought one of those. Maybe it's because I've spent so much time on long throw and free...

    Re: HD Speed Removal...

All well and good, and if that's his experience then it is what it is. You say you removed it right away, but your posts say you let it sit for 40min.

However, I truly believe letting it haze is...
  24. Re: Which microfiber towels & applicators for Gyeon CanCoat??

Agree with The Guz. IMO, the perfect combination is the pearl or even an all purpose (edgeless 245 I think is the same deal) MF to level, and then I really like the Edgeless 365 for a final wipedown.

    Re: HD Speed Removal...

The only reason speed would be hard to remove would be using too much product, point blank period.

Foam pads need no priming, regardless of product. You should only be priming MF or wool pads. ...
