    Re: From "stay tuned" to T U N E D !!

Interesting. I've never heard of that before. 2500~3500RPM would be right in the middle of steady state highway speeds in fifth or sixth gear. Anyone not hooning would probably land right in that...

    Re: From "stay tuned" to T U N E D !!

There is something about the air density at 60~70F that puts engines in their "happy place". My turbo'd cars seemed to run their best at about 65F and my N/A car now is really happy at 70F.

Re: Wheel ceramic affect wheel weights?

Do tire shops even use clip on weights for non-commercial vehicles any more? I can't say I've seen a clip on weights anywhere for a very, very long time. Many of the wheel designs don't really lend...
  4. Re: Cleaning brand new tires before first dressing?

This is my method of new tire prep too. I let nature run it's course to let the mold release agents and any rim lube used by the tire shop wear off. I don't think I' let them go two months, but do...

    Re: Elixir streaking

I *think* I do too, but I'm never quite sure if it actually looks different or my brain is coming up with something to make me feel better about the money spent on a product and the time/effort to...

    Re: Elixir streaking

It is true. The wording of my response probably wasn't the best. I just didn't find Elixr to be less hydrophobic than CQUK; it seemed to be equal.

The only non-coating ceramic products I've...

    Re: Elixir streaking

I never had it worsen the water behavior either when I used it on CQUK 3.0, but that shouldn't make any difference. In fact, I never noticed any change in water behavior at all before/after...

    Re: 2023 Kenworth gets gyeonized

Amazing work. How long did it take? I'm not sure I'd have the patience to take on something that big.

Re: First grass cot of the season.

It's only in the Spring. Our yard has this bluegrass/fescue stuff that goes nuts when it's cool and wet. Several years ago when we'd get rain 2~3 a week in the spring I'd be mowing every four day...

Re: First grass cot of the season.

I've had to cut mine a couple times by now. In years past I'd be mowing every four days or so, but it's been so dry here this winter and spring I only have to worry about it every 7~8.

    I actually...

    Re: From "stay tuned" to T U N E D !!

I'm really glad to hear you're happy with the results and everything seems to be working like it's supposed to.

The tips are a nice touch. From what I've been seeing/reading the larger double...

    Re: BMW Cerium Grey Wheels

Griots Garage Wheel Cleaner (the green one) is a really mild wheel cleaner and does a great job on that sticky BMW brake dust. When I owned a 435 MSport, it easily cleaned up the wheels.

    Agree...

    Re: Over ceramic coating topper

I think any boosting ability is seen towards the end of a coating's life. I've used Carpro Elixr, ECH2O, Gyeon Cure and Ceramic Detailer, and now Armour Detail Amplify. On a fresh coating I could...

    Re: Mat paint coating ?!?

I have road bike with a matte finish and I go with McKee's 37 Matte Finish Cleaner and Protectant. Think of it as a quick detailer.

While it isn't a coating and won't have the long lasting...

    Re: Original Wolfgang Paint Sealant

The Wolfgang SiO2 Paint Sealant is very runny/thin. It will separate but a few good shakes will mix it all together. The consistency doesn't seem to affect performance or ease of application.

Re: Pads? Polishes? I need a system!

I think the pad count will vary based on the type of work being done and the paint.

If the car is in bad shape, you'll certainly need more cutting than polishing for the initial correction. Once...

    Re: DFB's Soapy Notes

You don't hear about it much any more, but I remember as a kid there would be mention of "acid rain" and its damage fairly frequently after a rainfall when the air quality was bad. This is probably...
  20. Re: What do you do to make your Wheel Cleaning Easier

What kind of wheels are you seeing chipping? If you are talking about diamond etched wheels with a clear-coat, I whole heartedly agree (the other thread you started on a similar topic). If it you...

    Re: Waterless wash/quick detail

What dilution gives you streaking with ECH2O? I never experienced anything like that and I typically use a 1:20 or maybe a little thinner dilution as a quick detailer.

    Re: DFB's Soapy Notes

I use 2~3oz of Hyperwash in a 5 gallon bucket and it works great for me. I have a pump dispenser attached to the jug and one 1 to 1.5 presses on the pump, so it makes it easy to work with.

    The...
  23. Re: What's been your bigest game changers? And why?

The history of some of these products is interesting. I never used the original Optimum coatings, but I did use the original Blackfire Coating and the second gen McKee's coatings. Neither came in a...
  24. Re: What's been your bigest game changers? And why?

I've used the term for any of the coatings that come in a little glass bottle in order to distinguish them from the myriad of other products on the market calling themselves a "coating". I couldn't...

Re: Pads? Polishes? I need a system!

This is my vote if you have to stick to only one brand. I love Griots BOSS products.

I'm not so loyal to any one pad brand, but have found the Rupes yellow pads to be very versatile and I really...
