  1. Re: what pads to use on my DA for heavy oxidation?

I'm not a professional but you might be better off to get a cheap rotary polisher and use 7" to 8" twisted wool pads with a heavy oxidation compound (Marine 31 products will work). A DA polisher will...
  2. Re: Help with 21ft 1991 Bayliner Trophy Boat Hardtop

I'm no expert but this is what I use:

To remove heavy to medium oxidation use your Makita Rotary with 7.5" twisted wool pads and a water based compound (Farecla Profile 200 / Aqua Buff 1000 /...

Re: Need help with gelcoat (photo included)

Use a heavy cut water based compound first (Farecla Profile 100 / Presta Supercut / Aqua Buff 1000) with a twisted wool pad. Petroleum based compounds will mask the buffing results and when the...

Re: Software for photo / video editing?

Best to download a few programs and demo them before you buy - you just might be able to complete your project for free!

    Re: Rupes banners?

Just take a digital file/picture of the symbol you want on the banner to your local sign shop and they could probably make an exact copy usually the same day?

Re: Spoke with the man himself, Mr.Mike:)

Own both Flex PE 14 and the Dewalt 849X. Use the 849X on boats and it has great power to spin large wool cutting pads all day long. The PE 14 is lighter and does not have the same power - use it...

    Re: Most aggressive

Farecla Profile 100 - NOT recommended for paint. Use it with a twisted wool pad as the last step before switching to wet sanding on gel coat only. Use it by hand for small defect removals on gel coat...

    Re: Rupes washer mod

Good video - thanks for posting.

Why does the company not ship the polisher with a washer already installed?

    Re: Flex and pads combinations

I have the Flex 3401 with approx +100 hours of use. The Flex is a forced rotation DA and will not stop rotating as long as the trigger is pressed. The Flex 3401 has no power issues running 6.5" pads....

Re: 30 year old boat oxidation.

+1 for the Farecla Profile 100 - very course cutting compound. Should be used as a last step option before switching to wet-sanding or as the first step in a multistage process to remove 800 to 1000...
