Re: Test of Meguiars Brake Dust Barrier

Can't say I noticed any less build up. If it was less, it was not much less.

Test of Meguiars Brake Dust Barrier

I pretty much hate the dust the stock pads produce. Just a matter of days until a clean wheel is covered. In an attempt to remedy the situation, at least until I get the Hawk HPS pads on, I thought...
  3. Re: Quick Detailer / Gloss Enhancer after Drying

I alternate Aqua Wax with Duragloss Quick Detail.

If you haven't tried the Duragloss products, you really should.

Re: Good deal for old Corvette or bad deal?

If you are going to buy this model you should find as good an example as you can. They are really not up there in value, yet. A pristine, low mileage will be someday, just not right at this minute....

    Re: Cotton vs. microfiber

No undies, not enough material after cutting off elastic and sewed seams. On tee shirts, I cut off sleeves, collar, and bottom stitching so all I have is a plain sheet of cotton.

    I absolutely only...

    Re: Cotton vs. microfiber

Try to find used 100% cotton. Garage sales, etc. Old tee shirts, diapers, towels. Wash them several times before using and inspect to make sure they don't have any glue, etc. that would scratch....

    Re: Cotton vs. microfiber

That's been my experience. I know for a fact, I get swirls (micro marring) and the only thing that has touched my paint is a microfiber towel to dry or apply and remove product. And I don't buy cheap...

    Cotton vs. microfiber

I'm old enough to remember when nothing was supposedly better for car care than a 100% soft cotton cloth. Is microfiber better or just more available?
  9. Re: Looking to clean up "bird bombs" and "bug splatter":

A good QD and soft towel works the best. Spray, let soften, and then try to pick drop straight up. Don't wipe as dropping do occasionally have seeds.

    Re: Waterless car wash question

I don't use waterless, never have, and probably won't since I don't think there is any way in the world to prevent some surface damage. Right now the car is pretty good on the very fine marks....

    Waterless car wash question

How can a waterless car wash not introduce micro marring if the car has any dirt whatsoever? Is this to be used only on dusty cars? I seem to have a hard time not getting micro marring even with 2...

Re: Apple iOS 5 is ready

    Always bugs and improvements, i.e. 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, etc.
Master came out mostly for developers to make sure their apps would work.

Re: Looking for Paint Sealant Recommendation

Can't beat Duragloss 105! Factor in price and it's no contest.
Wash, clay, Duragloss 601 followed by 105, wait 24 and another coat of 105.
Try it see if you're not impressed. Great thing is you...

Re: Still looking for the right wheel brush

I just ordered the Carrand Sheepskin wheel brush. Haven't gotten it yet but I had the same problem, not enough room. Didn't really need anything aggressive so I got the sheepskin.

    Re: Is sealant dead?

Coating will never completely replace wax and sealants and won't really gain popularity with the general public until they are foolproof to apply. Long way to go in that regard.

Re: Wax will notcome off my truck

Try Dupont Prep-Sol. It's made to remove wax etc. prior to painting. Try on a small area first to make sure paint has cured enough.

    Re: Duragloss by machine?

Duragloss can't be beat for pop and durability and I've used many sealants at all prices. Gonna get some arguments, but just try it and see for yourself. It's not so expensive that you would feel bad...
  20. Re: lexus rx, just a quick wash and vacuum turned into a steam all the carpet and try to remove stains

Excellent job, especially on the carpets!

My wife has an RX that generally looks like the before of the interior. I try my best to stay up with it but she uses it like her pickup. Hauls anything...
  21. Re: The Benefits of using a Car Wax or Paint Sealant

    Very cool!

Thanks. Paint is in excellent shape so I'll just keep on keeping on.

Car is easily a Bloomington Survivor and might even Bowtie.

Thanks. I have read that article, just haven't yet tried letting the #7 set overnight.
  23. Re: The Benefits of using a Car Wax or Paint Sealant

    Mike,

Is there any benefit to using a real good wax, I used P21S, on original single stage lacquer paint on a 1962 Corvette instead of a sealant? Guess what I'm asking is if the wax will penetrate...
