Just wanted to add that I found somewhere else that Mike is now using the Buff n shine blue coarse pads since Rupes discontinued the old ones in case anyone is wondering.
I was going to say the Rupes Blue Course pads that I just posted about and Mike had introduced in the thread, but I just saw that they are discontinued?
This post is long overdue, but I finally got around to doing a substantial part of the boat with the Captain's One Step Compound and Polish. I used the Griots G9 and the blue coarse Rupes pads as...
Still not completely happy as it still doesn't have that hard glassy surface look. May have to try to use the wool pads again with another product, or break down and wet sand and then try the wool....
Okay, finally got around to trying this out. The whole pandemic put a halt on a boating trip so I wasn't as motivated. I have had some success but not perfect yet. The blue rupes coarse pad...
Thanks for all the information Mike. Yes I red through some your class examples and the two very badly oxidized blue boats was amazing. The pictures you showed of the maroon one and the gloss...
basically they are saying I didn't get a glossy finish because I didn't wet sand or cut hard enough because the boat is in worse shape than I think. So they think I should I should do the entire...
Yeah, the guys on the mastercraft forum are saying I need to wet sand. Would really like to avoid that as the gelcoat is actually in pretty good condition....not chalky at all.
Yeah, I was looking at the G9 last night. Might be a good option given the price point. Seems like it would provide me a better experience than the PC, without a huge $$ outlay. What are the...
I am considering upgrading from my Porter Cable 7424, not because I need more correction but I would just like some that is more enjoyable to use, doesn't vibrate as bad and is easier to handle. ...
Yeah. I think the other one is the rotary version. The RU-150H-B sure looks coarse though....hard to imagine it producing a glossy finish, but based on what Mike said it must.
My opinion as a customer would be increase the price to what others are paying and what you want to receive. If I was told the following as a customer, I wouldn't like it, but I would understand and...
I think step B alkaline neutralizer says not to use on trim and only paint. Seems like it would be pretty hard not to get it on some trim if one is doing the roof. How sensitive are trim components...
Still available. Just ordered it. 1-800 number doesn't work...use the regular number in their contact info on the website. $55 plus $43 shipping to CA.
Did a quarter of the hood with 3 passes of a megs cutting microfiber pad and 3D One using a porter cable 7424. Everything came out easy enough....guess we will see if they come back.
Thanks for the you tube reference. I will look that up. Is this something in your opinion that I could do just on the hood, or do you have to do the whole car?
Thanks Mike. Really appreciate your thoughts on this. I have a Megs microfiber cutting disk....I think I will try that and see what I get and if they come back.
