  1. Re: Clear coat stained, anyone please chime in, need some advice!!!

From the info I gathered, this happened 2-3 weeks ago and has been outside whenever it wasn't being worked on. I'm not sure how long this would take to gas out, but I would think it would be showing...
  2. Re: Clear coat stained, anyone please chime in, need some advice!!!

Well, it wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but I was able to improve on it to the point where if you're not looking for it, you'll never see it. The customer is happy, the shop is happy, I'm...
  3. Re: Clear coat stained, anyone please chime in, need some advice!!!

This happened at a performance shop, they have all kinds of specialty fluids for transmissions, engines, brakes, coolants etc. - our best guess is automatic transmission fluid from a trams am that...

    Here's one last pic:

My photobucket app keeps crashing and it's preventing me from uploading anything else.
  5. Re: Clear coat stained, anyone please chime in, need some advice!!!

Thanks for the advice so far, fellas!!! It is much appreciated!!!

I have a couple more pics on the way to show the damage. The color is very elusive thru a cell phone's camera lens but it had...
  6. Re: Clear coat stained, anyone please chime in, need some advice!!!

I've tried soap and water, and I've been told that solvent ha already been attempted although I may back up and try that for myself.

I got a couple of the best pics I could with my phone so you...
  7. Clear coat stained, anyone please chime in, need some advice!!!

    Hey guys,

I have a car in front of me, that, while being serviced at a shop, had some type of blue-ish fluid run down the hood(possibly oil or hydraulic fluid). The clear appears to be stained,...

    Re: Interior old car smell

I happen to love the old car smell. Its something you can't recreate and you can't buy it. That smell tells the story of the car - where it's been, who's owned it, I'd cherish that fantastic quality...

Re: What are these defects in my paint?

This is crow's feet. They're cracks in the upper layers of the paint job, but sometimes they can even expose primer. Sanding/prepping/painting the panels is the only way to properly repair them.

    Re: Mechanical problem

Wow there's a lot of factors here.

    This could be
    Axle (CV joint)
    Bearing
    Inner/outer tie rod
    Upper/lower ball joint
    Strut

Check axle, tie rod end and ball joint boots for tears or places...

They covered Paul Dalton in the mid 2000's. He's quite simply a legend.

    Re: Menzerna & ambient temps

I've heard it argued that the ability to read minds is the next step in human evolution. This forum is starting to prove it to me :)

I had some PO85RD that refused to diminish a couple nights ago....

    Re: $20k paint jobs

Tuscarora Dave's got it pretty well wrapped up.

Buddy of mine has a Chevelle that has been a work in progress for over two years now as a nut and bolt resto-mod. Frame, engine, suspension, brakes...
  15. Re: When I comment on Bus recons, commercial vehicles.

I know by your posts, examples of your work, and your attitude that you know what you're doing and this will turn out to your advantage, but it doesn't stop me from being glad I'm not detailing this...

    Why not both?

  17. Re: Not Your Daddy's Cadillac - Hennessey-tuned CTS-V hits 220 mph - in Texas!

Hennessey has a shady past, but I'm really glad he's cleaned up his act. His shop is now producing some of the biggest street legal horsepower numbers coming out of Texas, and even has his own...

Re: Do you like your FLEX carry bag?

I like it, best thing about it is the insulation, which for me means on a hot day, my few bottles of polish don't boil in the 100+ degrees of heat. Most of the time even after several hours in my...

Re: Anyone ever heard of pink wax

I don't mean to sound argumentative here, and but by definition, "eliminate" means "to remove." And since this product is non-abrasive, you and I have been around the block enough to know that it...

Re: Anyone ever heard of pink wax

I don't understand how a protective product can "clean" or "remove swirl marks" and yet be labeled as "non abrasive."

But hey, a little money buys a lot - and if you like it, who am I to say...
  24. Re: Fuel Economy E85 Flex advantages or not?

I think he's referring to flex fuel vehicles or ones that are converted to handle it. But yes, running straight ethanol in a vehicle that it isn't meant for can cause serious issues, mostly with the...
