I am also impressed with Optimum's spray polish, just used it today on a black GMC Sierra and was impressed on how well it worked. This polish works great with Optimum's MF pads.
I am glad I didn't go with the Groits because I too have broken tools before and need parts to fix them and it sucks they don't want to support their own product.
I may be wrong but, it could be the reason the won't replace the part is because the don't have spare parts. They probably just swap a defective unit out for a new one and don't mess with repairing...
I apply mineral oil with a MF and let it sit for thirty seconds and then buff or wash of with a APC. Then just treat it with what ever your favorite trim detailer is.
I have used mineral oil many times and it always works for getting stubborn polish or wax out of plastic trim. It can also be bought at any pharmacy and is inexpensive.
