    Re: Checking Paint Thickness

So many vehicles are damaged in transit that they literally have a body shop at most ports of arrival. Vehicles can be refinished / repainted before they even arrive at the dealership and without...
  2. Re: Vapor Chief 125 steaming out the bottom of the unit!!! HELP?!?!

There is a pressure relief tube that allows excess steam to escape from the pressurized boiler chamber if the pressure gets too high (to prevent it from exploding). There might be something wrong...
  3. Re: What is this exactly, cracked clearcoat or a result of rock hitting the panel?

Looks like tree sap etching. Must have been on the surface for a while. Now the paint's binders and resins are fracturing apart due to extended exposure to the sap.
  4. Re: Polishing pad problem velcro sheet peeling off

Polishing pads are a consumable material that you have to replace from time to time. How many times have you used it?

Re: How to best use deionized water?

We normally only use DI water for the final rinse or also for water to mix with chemicals. Our Meguiar's Glass cleaner seems to work drastically better when mixed with DI water vs tap water.

    Re: 2018 VW Golf R

    Color really pops. Nice work!
  7. Re: Customer claims I cracked her windshield...

Last year I added windshield repair (WSR) to my detailing business. While researching for the best tools and repair methods I learned a lot about the automotive glass industry. It's kind of...
  8. Re: Hand sanitizer on tree sap... now what?

Denatured alcohol works significantly better than isopropyl alcohol to remove almost any kind of tree sap.

    Re: Bug guts etching EXO?

Splattered bug carcasses are extremely corrosive and must be removed relatively quickly or they will begin to leave permanent stains on the surface. The best way to prevent this is to routinely wash...
  10. Re: Review: The Leatherique Treatment - Leather Rejuvenator Oil and Prestine Clean

    Hi Mike,

    I agree!

I fear you might have misunderstood my comment. And I fear I may have formulated my comment based on a misunderstanding of the question I was trying to answer to another forum...
  11. Re: Review: The Leatherique Treatment - Leather Rejuvenator Oil and Prestine Clean

Yes. I believe the industry terminology is "protected" leather.
  12. Re: Review: The Leatherique Treatment - Leather Rejuvenator Oil and Prestine Clean

By coated leather I mean "protected leather" with a urethane protective top coating.

I have never tried Leatherique on leather that has been coated with a ceramic type product. Pristine clean...
  13. Re: Review: The Leatherique Treatment - Leather Rejuvenator Oil and Prestine Clean

Yes. The Rejuvenator Oil is designed to soak through the leather's top coating to replenish moisture and nutrients in the hide itself. The idea is the oil can soak through the top coating and push...
  14. Re: Ceramic vs. Wax - Can We Cut To The Chase?

Any type of protection applied at the dealership is going to be worthless because they do not have the time to properly prep each vehicle.. often they don't even apply anything special to the...

    Re: Microfiber cutting pads

Once the pad is thoroughly primed and abrasive liquid has covered every fiber of the surface you will not need to re-prime the pad after each time you clean out the pad. We typically blow them out...

    Re: CarPro Hydro2 Lite

When did you last try Reload? There was a period where they had a bad batch that was absolutely terrible to use. Streaked endlessly. But that was eventually fixed and they exchanged bottles for...

    Re: Polishing Paint Protection Film

What polish did you use for polishing the hood PPF? If it left haze in the finish it was likely too aggressive. You should be able to correct the PPF and finish without any haze with the right...

    Re: Touch up pen

Our touch up tool arsenal at the shop includes one of these fine line pens (with the reservoir), lab syringes, and tooth pics. The pen thing works great but is difficult to use on side panels or...

    Re: CarPro Hydro2 Lite

You can use Hydro2Lite just like Reload. Spray on and wipe off. It can get a little streaky if you use too much... just like Reload.
  20. Re: If you could only use two or three product lines for all your detailing needs, what would you choose?

We certainly use more than 3 brands in the shop... realistically through probably about 90% of our machines, pads, polishes, and chemicals are supplied by only 3 main brands: CarPro, Meguiar's, and...

    Re: Steamers...

I didn't know they had a 75 refill unit. Whichever one you get I would always recommend a machine that can be refilled on the fly without needing to wait for it to cool down. With that being said the...

    Re: Steamers...

When I first started out I was 100% mobile and I went through about one steamer per year using those cheap McCulloch versions. Since they are an integrated unit there really is no way to repair...

Re: Why am I getting these water spots?

Looks like water is drying on the vehicle and leaving spots. With the environmental conditions you've described, as well as your speedy drying process, I can't imagine why they are drying on the...
  24. Re: Best products for new cars that go through automatic car washes frequently?

If you are going to be primarily using friction tunnel washes to maintain your vehicle honestly there is almost no reason to do anything else to try to protect the paint since the paint is literally...

    Re: Tree Sap?

Tree sap will permanently damage the paint if it is left to dwell on the surface for too long. If the vehicle was completely covered with globs of tree sap it is very likely that the contamination...
