    Re: Self Healing Ceramic Coating

Concerning the original question, I have tried a few different self healing coatings and they have been very intensive installs. I’m not familiar with any consumer versions and I would not fault any...

    Re: Mobile business owners

    1. As a more general comment, it doesn’t matter to me if it’s sap, tar, paint, etc. my pricing is based on a thorough process and if that doesn’t remove the contaminant, then I do need to charge for...
  3. Re: Ink spill on carpet and leather HELP! need suggestions for removal

AG is awesome for car detailing stuff, but when it comes to fabrics, I go to those experts. Find a carpet cleaning supply store near you, they will have an ink remover for fabrics, you will want to...

    Re: Cleaning Seat Tracks

I use my steamer, and a degreaser if necessary. I clean them early in the process since gunk can splatter, then tape over them so crap doesn’t get back in there when vacuuming.
  5. Sticky: Re: Have a problem with a RUPES polisher or product?

Exemplary response Todd. Responses I have seen from other reps have turned me off from other brands and, sadly, rupes. So glad to see this kind of class and professionalism.

    Re: So Many Test Spots

Megs microfiber cutting pads and d300 on the gg6 to cut.

Hyper polish with white or orange pads on the gg6 to finish

    Now get to work.

Re: 2015 Mustang Saved from a hack!

I gather they used: sandpaper, a belt buckle, a rotary and wool pad.

I assume they forgot to use: brains, skill, eyes, attention the other 2 products in a 3-step process.

    Good lord, at least...

Re: BLACKFIRE Pro Cermaic Coating - SUPER GLOSS

In the video none of the pads have any color transfer, save for the metal polishing, so I assume it’s clear coated.

Re: IPA primer before wax ?

I do not bother with any panel prep products prior to wax or sealant. I consider that to be more potential for introducing marring, and that is working backwards.

    Re: 20?? Audi Convertible

Nice job! That would be a B6 generation, 2003-2006. Not sure if the vert was offered all those years in the US though, may have only been through 2005 here.

Re: Anyone else ditches the 2 bucket method?

It’s a good point. I expect my pre-wash routine to address that. A snow foam that is normally alkaline or at least has pH buffers to address acids and dwell time to bring other chemicals into...

Re: Anyone else ditches the 2 bucket method?

I adamantly disagree with the idea of your wash bucket getting dirty.

Let me preface by saying this little test is absolutely not the way you should perform multiple washes.

    I washed 3...
  13. Re: Part Time Detailer - Steam Cleaner or Extractor?

I’m going to second, third, fourth and infinity this post.

It sounds like the upgraded extractor is what would benefit you more. That said, throwing APC and Fabric Clean at it is part of your...

Re: Water Spots on relatively fresh coating?

Not sure about the current versions, but with previous versions there were complaints about water spots on the pro version. But, my understanding is that the coating would absorb/reject them after a...

Re: It's harder than it looks

If your wife is going to continue to take it to the brush car wash, I would say don’t bother trying to get all the swirls and scratches out. Just do what you can in a single step to improve on the...

    Re: Bought this from Costco!

I don’t think it’s well above 2000, I think the difference you feel/perceive is a higher flow rate compared to the average stand alone pressure washer.

    Re: ISO take ceramic off?

I frequently use an air brush to apply coatings to wheels and to complex trim pieces.

What is the process you are using for spray application? Was the surface rough like the coating was...

    Re: IDA certification

I agree with this completely. The test is not necessarily on a geek level. The 'correct' answer is often better aligned with production type work. That is to say, something you may consider...
  19. Re: Blackfire Pro Detailers Choice One Step and Paint Sealant Review

Not to take away from the quality of the work, because it does look fantastic, but, the reflection photos are a simple photography phenomenon you can easily replicate.

Car should be in a shaded...

Re: How to remind customers to pay for a detail.

The scam emails are pretty easy to spot:

Broken English, first and last name are swapped, come direct to your email versus through your website. They start pretty much the same.

    Hi, I am mr...

Re: Blackfire One Step vs. HD Speed

I played with speed and BF today on one of my test panels.

BF broke down to nearly clear after 5 passes, cut well and wipe off was incredibly easy. It was also very slick. Beat out speed in all...
  22. Re: How long before a coated panel can rest against a towel

Most coating instructions will say something to the effect of:

keep away from water for 24 hours. If any water gets on the coating, remove it.

I can only assume the method to remove that...
  23. Re: My New Merino Wool Sheepskin DUO Wash Mitt a matted mess

I love the wool mitts, but you gotta wash them by hand, brush them, take them for walks, give them mitt food, potty train them. Not really efficient for production work or even doing a couple cars a...

Re: How to remind customers to pay for a detail.

Give them a full day, then send them a text or email (whichever you had been using as primary contact).

    Something like:

Hi Judy, I wanted to follow up after detailing you car yesterday to...
  25. Re: Gyeon Water Spot Remover - Mistake or Warning?

I think water spots are really an issue for any LSP that will bead water. The SiO2 coatings do seem to be worse for this than traditional LSPs. I would expect some of the new generation ones like...
