    Mike,
Taught me how to polish paint by hand over 10 years ago on a cold and rainy day in Dallas. So yes, I could do it by hand... with a grinder? No way! LOL
  8. Poll: Re: POLL - What's the number one most important factor when it comes to polishing paint?

Technique takes into account all of the other choices. You adjust technique to properly use whatever you have at your disposal. You may not get optimal results but you may be able to greatly improve...

Re: VERY stubborn smoke smell. Please help!

You had a box type unit that you placed INSIDE the car. If you would have cracked a window a few of inches that smoke smell would have been attacked by the ozone that generator made and destroyed.

Re: VERY stubborn smoke smell. Please help!

I like your way when using an ozone generator. The ones that are placed in the car are not my favorite for use in a vehicle.

Re: VERY stubborn smoke smell. Please help!

I forgot to ask what type of generator do you have? If it the one that is placed TOTALLY INSIDE the car, with the cord going through the window, then you must leave the window cracked so it can get a...

"I then sprinkled baking soda over all the carpets", and finished it off with an ozone machine for 2 hours."

Re: VERY stubborn smoke smell. Please help!

Also, the interior should have been dry. With the carpet still wet from shampooing, ozone couldn't get to the source of the smoke smell. Remember an ozone generator takes oxygen from fresh air and...

Re: VERY stubborn smoke smell. Please help!

Ozone will easily remove it, but you have to leave the windows cracked. An ozone generator needs fresh air to work properly in a car. Stop the fresh air it won't work properly. Run it too long and it...

    Re: Polishing new paint

My car had a panel repainted and the dealership said not to wax it for at least 90 days, to let the paint cure. So I will follow their directions and not touch the paint until mid-October.

Re: Help with a detailing news story!

It's best to leave this issue alone. You don't know what products they are using or what terms their customers are agreeing with to have the protection the dealers are providing.

    Re: pressure washers

That amount of psi can remove your paint if you use the wrong tip and get too close. 1000 to 1500 psi with a wide angle tip is the most you need to detail a car.
