Re: Using WD40 to remove tar

So, this forum has degraded into promoting WD40 and kerosene, petroleum distillates, for safe use on paint?

    Mercedes S550 Extended

Though you might like to see pictures of this magnificent car and 50+ hours of work. I included one picture of what EVERY INCH of this paint was like, probably the worst condition of an exotic I've...

Re: Will wolfgang swirl remover be enough?

If you can BARELY catch your fingernail you might be able to wet sand the scratches. Careful that close to the edges bro...paint can be mighty thin...I would sand that by hand.

Re: Pros: Whats Your Choice of Carnauba?

Swissvax owns the high-end wax market. Raceglaze Signature Black Label is also an outstanding value for the money, and you get a free refill :)

    Re: Dodo Juice

Outstanding products front to back...highly recommended. Supernatural is a fabulous wax, just not a lot of fun to work with, very finicky.

Re: Not sure if I can save this one...

Very kind words thank you. I really didn't think I could save this paint, especially the hood. Trizact 1500/3000/5000 by machine and by hand in the tight spots, then polished out.

Re: Not sure if I can save this one...(final)

Well after 43 hours we made it. I saved this horribly damaged truck. It's not perfect, but about as good as I can get it without getting into dangerously low levels of clear coat. Finished in...

Re: Not sure if I can save this one...

This paint is actually beyond repair, but owner wanted me to give it a shot and maybe avoid a lights-out respray. This is just after sanding with Trizact 1500/3000/5000 and initial light compound...
  10. Re: Why is everyone afraid of rotary polishers? And what's this about not finishing properly?

    "hullaballoo"? Wow.
  11. Re: 2005 Porsche Turbo S (Full Blown recondition)

Trust me here guys, this car was absolutely thrashed, far beyond the pictures here. HUMP knocked this one out of the park in less than 40 hours. I would have called this one at 60+.

Re: Not sure if I can save this one...

PTG readings after sanding and initial polishing averaged about 130 mils but as low as 79. 100 is the danger zone for me. OEM paint.

Not sure if I can save this one...

Severe acid rain and water spot etchings on this black Chevy Silvarado. Not sure if I can save this one or not. 3M Trizact 1500/3000 is the trick but paint thickness readings even just after...
  15. Re: Porsche Macan S - Full Correction - Day 1-2

I know I'm slow, but there's no way I could get this paint 90-95% and coated in 22PLE in less than 32 hours. Not gonna happen.
  16. Re: Porsche Macan S - Full Correction - Day 1-2

Thanks, not bad for just the initial cutting stage. Rupes blue pad + a little Scholl Concept's SE3 Gold + a little "???" to the rescue.
  17. Re: Porsche Cayman S corrected and coated with CQuartz

Pretty tough to get white to look that nice. Outstanding !!!
  18. Porsche Macan S - Full Correction - Day 1-2

Things just starting to come together on this Porsche Macan S. Severely damaged by the dealer doing a "new car prep".

Long long road ahead on this one.....

    Re: Fg400 with microfiber pad?

I agree 100%. The pads and the paint can heat up very quickly. Slow speed, zero pressure, clean pads after every 2 foot section. Even then...be careful.
  21. Re: When do you put down the polisher and pick up the sander?

I rarely use extremely aggressive pads or polishes. 3M Trizact 1500-5000 has pretty much made severe defect removal quick, easy, and safe. Harsh pads and polishes will heat up the surface no matter...
