Re: Headlight Restoration-new UV sealant idea

You can install paint protection film after polishing, and it will keep them from yellowing almost indefinitely.

Re: 3 vehicles you hate detailing

The original Humvy is difficult with all the rivets in the body work. Mercedes galeandewagens are also extremely difficult.

Re: HELP - Bird Crap Damage to paint !

It's likely that it has been damaged, and will need to be wetsanded and polished to remove. Bring it by my shop in Lynnwood, and I can probably take care of it for you pretty quickly.

    PM sent.
  6. Re: Sacrificial Barrier Coating = The purpose of a wax or synthetic paint sealant

This reminds me of Xzilon. This is precisely why you can spray paint on a car, and rub it off, as it is only sticking to the silicone. Unfortunately, you can't do it twice in the same spot.

Re: Don't wax your car for at least 30 days!

Excellent write-up Mike. I however have not heard of a wax causing fish eyes, shouldn't it be pretty solid after it's been through the bake booth? I could be wrong, just not familiar. Usually if...

Re: My PTG won't read my hood.

Most PTG will read on metal bodied, or non metal bodied. Doesn't matter if the car is aluminum or steel.

    Re: Without using a PTG..

Paint thickness gauges that read layers only work on non metal bodied cars. Unfortunately one is not available yet for metal bodied cars that I know of.

Re: Best LSP for a "Joe Blow" Daily Driver

Since you already have 915, just be sure to prep the paint by claying, or polishing and claying, then apply two coats of 915 and you'll be in good shape.

    Re: Good detailing mist?

Dodo Juice Red Tropical Mist is the best and easiest to use IMO. It does not leave streaks behind.

    Re: colored wax?

You could also go over the car with a spray sealant afterwards. Should get any remainings off.

    Re: cash is king

You gotta take credit cards. Costco has a good deal, make sure to get a debit keypad with it, as debit is even cheaper. Having a credit card machine on hand can make or break a deal on a $1500...

Re: New Member - Wax Tester

Zymol and Swissvax are fantastic waxes in my opinion, they have a great look, but you already have Supernatural. Supernatural keeps up with Zymol and Swissvax until you spend about $1000+ for a jar....
