  1. Re: Competition Ready Season 2 Episode 16: Detailer's Cup (Preview)

When I saw this show title listed on DirecTV I thought it was a tuner show for race car preparation. Did you ever consider calling it Concours Ready, or something that might include detailing in the...
  2. Re: Rescued from Hell: 1969 Corvette Convertible

I agree. #7 is best for restoring oxidized single stage paint. I buffed a black car first and THEN realized the use of #7 and did it after. It made the paint darker and richer. I would go for one or...

Re: Look what happened to my car!

I would use a black after the white. Also, it is important to keep the pads clean, so maybe more than one of each.

    Re: Antique tires

I've heard it said that the most significant improvement in automotive performance is tires.
Overlooked, but with modern tires, your 67 L88 Corvette will be performing way better than it ever did...

    Re: Antique tires

Coker tire makes vintage looking wide whitewalls. Almost identical to originals. The rubber compounds have come a long way over the years, so new tires have much better rubber than 50 year old tires.
  6. Re: What is the best product for polishing exhaust tips?

+1. Simichrome is an effective product. Great shine with a bit of wax in it as well.
"chrome, silver, brass, gold, copper, pewter, aluminum, magnesium, stainless steel, even Plexiglas."

    Re: The Hernandez Polisher

Are any polishers made with ceramic bearings?
Ceramic bearings have 1/3 the friction and last longer.

Re: Best wax for the daily driver.

I'm a big fan. It lasts 8 months or so and is slick. The durability is there. However, it is a sealant, not a wax.
The fine hand polish in it is just enough to bring up a better shine if it's been...

    Re: The Hernandez Polisher

Respectfully, if it's that small an area, maybe a rotary with a small pad is the best option, since it doesn't oscillate at all. When you deal with really tight areas, you don't really want...

Re: Look what happened to my car!

The holograms were caused by their rotary buffer. Wet sanding isn't what should be done to fix them. A DA can fix holograms. It's the best way. The holograms weren't caused by the flash or the...

    Re: The Hernandez Polisher

The machine isn't going to last as long with that extension. You have increased the leverage placed upon the mechanism and it will be more likely to fail. I wouldn't do this to a machine I wanted to...
  12. Re: Giveaway! DP Power Wash + BLACKFIRE Total Trim & Tire Sealant

My favorite DP product is Xtreme foam shampoo. I would really like to try the new DP wash and wax for that reason.

I have never tried a Blackfire product, and I am most intrigued by the Blackfire...

Re: Neglected my paint for too long...

You need to apply pressure to the polisher in order for it to polish effectively. The mark should never stop, though. I suspect you didn't use enough pressure.
  14. Re: Show Your Autogeek Pride & Enter to Win a Jar of SYNERGY!

It would be nice if you made stickers that were just lines in black or white with a clear background to make it easy to see through windows, yet still have a classy, subtle AG picture.
  15. Re: Who wants to review ECO TOUCH Car Care Products?

I have used the waterless wash and the interior cleaner. The waterless wash has great cleaning ability, a nice amount of lubricity and an extremely pleasant citrus scent. The only problem is it must...

    Re: Griot's HD wheel cleaner

Griot's HD is significantly stronger than Griot's regular wheel cleaner, which is mild, for every 2 or 3 weeks. Griot's HD is also significantly weaker and cheaper than Sonax.

    If you clean your...
  17. Sticky: Re: Teaser shots taking inside the Rupes Manufacturing Plant in Milan, Italy

Yes, the only test it could be is for failure, based upon the set up. The ties just prevent the machine from falling over or moving around too much. There are no sensors to measure vibration. There...

    Re: Swirls

I suggest using a one step sealant like Griot's or Poli Seal every time you apply LSP once every 3-4 months until all the swirls are gone. This way, you will gradually remove them all. If you remove...

    Re: Steamer, blowing water?

It is blowing water because the unit isn't hot enough to blow steam. Either wait longer before using or perhaps only use it a certain amount while you have steam until you blow water and then wait...

  23. Re: Side panel scratched in the parking lot...what should I do?

If you don't feel comfortable with wet sanding, that is fine. I suggest polishing enough to get all of the other paint color out of the scratches, and then clean with mineral spirits before you apply...
  24. Re: Side panel scratched in the parking lot...what should I do?

  25. Re: Side panel scratched in the parking lot...what should I do?

The spray type touch up will be dry to the touch in a few hours. It just will take a few days for all of the solvents to out-gas so that it finishes sinking in. The paint will sink a lot after a few...
