  1. Re: Making money doing production detailing by Mike Phillips

This, more than anything, is what most people who want to detail for a living need to understand. A few years back I had a kid just getting into detailing who kept pestering me to "correct the paint"...

    Re: Dreaded Electric Pressure Washer

I bought the same one about 4 years ago. Same issues with plastic housing, poor gun and hose and leaks at the hose connection.

However, it is still working very well for my needs.

Re: BMW Z3 detail - advice needed

It's hard to tell without looking at the car, but I might consider a one-step cleaner wax on the car. Again, careful testing sections and a very cautious technique are in order.

Re: BMW Z3 detail - advice needed

#1 looks like a door ding that was touched up.
#2 looks like a paint run.
#3 looks like a rock chip that's had clear applied over it.

Based on the limited visual evidence, I'd say that the...

Re: Need help removing baked on PAM!!

Dawn dishwashing detergent. If you're going to use a product designed for cooking, it makes sense to also use a product designed to clean up after cooking.

Plan on re-waxing after you're done...

Re: Inside rim cleaning? Worth it?

In my opinion, there is too much risk for the detailer to consider this.

My Porsche currently has a small ding in the rear quarter panel right on the door shut line. The local Paintless Dent...

    Old Meguiar's compounds

A friend was cleaning out his garage and had a few bottles of some old Meguiars Mirror Glaze products.

    #14 Acid Rain Remover
    #15 Clearcoat conditioner

I took them rather than just toss them in...

I agree completely. Unfortunately I was getting nowhere with the various polishes I tried by hand. Plus, this was several years ago, before I began learning new tricks via autogeek...

Re: How To Remove "Paint Transfer"

I once got similar paint transfer when the sheetrock ceiling of my carport fell onto the roof and hood of my VW Jetta. It finally took Meguiar's #2 with a foam pad on a rotary buffer to remove.

Re: What are you working on today?

I fill until the pump auto-stop kicks in. I try not to look at how much it costs because I find it to be very depressing.

Re: Paint defects, need advise, pics

For the white spots, I would start by claying the area to see if the clay will pull the contaminants from the paint.

If claying doesn't work you can try mixing a solution of 50% distilled water...
