    Polishing interior painted panels

I just bought a 2020 4Runner. It has a silver panel on the center console that is painted plastic. The previous owner added a few light scratches. They are very light - can't feel them with my...

Re: Pads? Polishes? I need a system!

It's never simple is it. I was thinking the "system" I was chasing had two variables - pads and polishes... and didn't factor in the machine.

My three new pads are going back to Griot's Garage...

Re: Pads? Polishes? I need a system!

Damn guys... this is great. Thank you. I'm thinking I'll go all in on the Groit's system. Then, as I get a few more cars under my belt, I'll try other brands. Right now, I've really got no baseline -...

Re: Pads? Polishes? I need a system!

Thanks opie. Do you use the LC Force white pad (light cutting) and the 3D 520 as the final stage - and not followed by a black (no cutting) pad?

    Thanks!

Pads? Polishes? I need a system!

Hey guys. I need some help picking pads and polishes. I've got a Flex XC 3401 VRG (DA orbital polisher) and used to have, what seemed like a good system... at least an easy-to-use system. A company...
  6. Protecting (preserving) a 40-yr-old dashboard

The dashboards in the old Toyota trucks are notorious for cracking... a lot. This is what the dash in my '84 looked like when I bought it...

  7. Re: Need tips/ideas for applying tire shine to spare

Sorta... not really... a little. The spare is bolted to a plate that has the "female" end of a tube that slides over the "male" end of the mount. There's a bolt through those two to secure things....
  8. Need tips/ideas for applying tire shine to spare

There are a couple things about the spare tire on my Toyota Pickup that make it a bit of a hassle to apply tire dressing to.
    - The location - sunk into the bed and surrounded by sheet metal and...

    Re: "Fixing" 2K Clear Coat

Tony - thanks for taking the time to write/explain all of that. The main take-away for me - given my (very) limited experience and skills - is that I need to hand this over to a pro. The rest of the...

    "Fixing" 2K Clear Coat

The clear coat on my hood is past saving. So, other than the cost of a can of clear and some time, there's nothing to lose. I did the prep - clean, 1500 wet sanding, clean, dry, tape...

    ... Then...

Clear Coat on Hood is Toast! Fixable?

My 2006 Land Cruiser looks amazing... until you look at the hood. No buffing/polishing will bring it back. I bought the truck with 39,000 miles on it. It had been in a minor accident - bumper and...
  13. Heat Gun to Faded Plastic... Why Did This Work?

The rubber/plastic step on the bumper of my 2006 Land Cruiser faded to a light gray. I've tried a few chemical dressings - they'd last a few days. The guy who owns the shop that does the mechanical...

Re: Powder Coating needs some help!

Thanks Tony. The sliders are perfectly located to get a LOT of tire spray, stones, etc. Oh, and their primary function to carry the weight of the 5,600 lb truck when it lands on a rock (off-road).

Re: Powder Coating needs some help!

Given the cosmetic condition of the sliders (a.k.a. rock rails, a.k.a. step bars), and the feedback, I'm wondering if I should consider (gulp) rattle-canning them. This seems like a viable option and...

    Powder Coating needs some help!

The sliders (think running boards) on my Land Cruiser where powder coated a dark charcoal gray a couple years ago. The coating seems to be holding up well, other than how faded it's gotten. The truck...
