Re: Quickjacks are a game changer!

I’m in the same boat as far as only really doing my own cars. And two of mine are lifted so it wouldn’t be worth it yet for me. But Costco has them for $999 if that makes it any easier for the...

Dirty Fire trucks at the local VFD

Don’t have much experience with water spots, but here’s a start. Not sure which is the best water spot remover, but it’ll give you the process at least.

    Re: In-Progress: 1986 Porsche 951 (Guards Red)

You could try just a simple IPA (isopropyl alcohol) wipe down. Shouldn’t be much of a risk at all to the paint.

Re: 3m Perfect-It GelCoat anyone using it?

I used to work at a place that built fiberglass spray rigs. We used a rotary with 3m wool pads. Super duty compound followed by Perfect It. It was mostly always on new gel coat, but occasionally...

Re: Griots Correcting cream turned into water?

It will help if the product separated. Squeeze the bottom of the bottle and if you can feel that the product is pretty solid, then more then likely the liquid of the polish separated from the...

    Replacing backing plate on Rotary

Here’s one to consider. It’s threaded for the 5/8” x 11 that the DeWalt uses.

    Clear Coat Wheels

I know claying and decontaminating the wheels will not remove scratches. Re-read his original post. He talks about having scratches, but he says the way he detected them was by the baggy test. When...

    Re: Clear Coat Wheels

Sorry for just asking a question to clarify to try to help out a fellow forum member and make sure I was answering his question properly. Just trying to help, not trying to start an argument

    Re: Clear Coat Wheels

I get that, but the OP only said he can detect them through the baggie test. He never said he visually saw them. Just trying to clarify. I don’t do the baggie test to find out if I have scratches, I...

    Re: Clear Coat Wheels

Can you see the scratches or they just feel rough with the baggie test? If it’s just rough, you probably need to decontaminate with an iron remover cleaner like Iron X and/or clay bar the wheel.

    New cabinets installed

Looks great. Wish I had the motivation to be that organized.

(Just a suggestion, but they make an epoxy appliance paint if you want your refrigerator black or a stainless look to match.)

Repainted hood quality compared to oem?

All the shop needs is the paint code that’s on the car. They’ll know where to look if they know what they are doing. It doesn’t have to be the same paint brand as long as they are using a quality...

    Re: Non-automotive uses for polishes

I’ve watched a couple videos on YouTube before. A lot of the similar techniques, but different pads per se. You can find a package for polishing them via a rotary for about $40 on Amazon. They come...
  14. Re: Boyd Coddington Detail Garage: Product line review

Nice honest review. Too bad those wheels weren’t Boyd Coddington wheels to go the full circle lol
