High top van gel coat or clear coat
After a recent hail storm the coating on the fiberglass roof of my wife's van started peeling. I hit it with a pressure wash and big chips came off leaving faded red ( the color of the van) spots with white peeling around the edges. We had this reprinted a 4 years ago and I'm guessing the body shop just sprayed a heavy coat of their favorite clear coat on it and its separating. This looks like I have two choices, block sand the spots and re-clear coat or have the entire top redone. Should this just be a gel- coat type setup or do they have a fiberglass primer and clear coat just for hi-top vans? I paid a little over a grand to have this done last time and would like to get it right so it lasts in the texas sunshine.
