Gel-coats are thick. A LOT thicker than the factory clearcoat finish on a modern car.

Fix it right the first time then maintain using a light cleaner/wax and you should never have a problems.

Could I use this on the decals shown in the picture as well?

Re: Bring back the shine on our first new to us camper (gel coat)

Just made my order. We will give'r a shot. Thank you Mike and GKSR for all your help. Ordered:

Marine 31 Spray Polishing Pad Conditioner

Lake Country 5 1/2 Inch Flat Pads 6 Pack - Your Choice!
    • Pad 1 : Yellow
    • Pad 2 : Yellow
    • Pad 3 : Yellow
    • Pad 4 : Yellow
    • Pad 5 : Yellow
    • Pad 6 : Yellow
    Pinnacle GlassWork Water Spot Remover
Supreme 530 Extra Large Microfiber Towel, 25 x 36 inches
Marine 31 Gel Coat Heavy-Cut Cleaner Wax 32 oz.
Marine 31 Gel Coat Spray Wax Plus

Hopefully that is the right products to start. Pinnacle is for water spots on our cars. I have well water but am using a clear rinse resin filter and somehow still have bad water spots that are on the cars now. Wondering if I should start using the softened water into the clear rinse filter but I was worried about the salt...

Forget everything I wrote previously.... that was a waste of time...

Thanks Mike. Not a waste of time at all. I didn't have a clue that you could get those kind of results. Somewhat in defense of the OP's detail guy, I'm sure this isn't the sort of work that most guys are thinking for a "simple wash/wax" for $10 a foot (maybe per sq foot). However, they should have explained that to the OP up front.

I have been using Soft Water for 40ish years and never an issue on anything. I may not run it into the filter but the other way around if you insist on the filter.

What is your process for washing/drying? Not sure what you meant here: I may not run it into the filter but the other way around if you insist on the filter.

Here in Az. it is usually around 5:00am total wash then dry, nothing special except the time as the Sun and heat get pretty intense. By the other way around I meant to filter the water into the softener. Of course with your filter that would require a portable softener.

Me too. I was intrigued by something this weekend. I bought some products to hopefully remove mold on the caulk (if anyone has some ideas let me know). So far those Mr. Clean erasers are working decent. I have some stuff called spray and forget that I use on the vinyl siding of my house when any sort of mold/algae decides to pop up in shaded areas. Oddly I tried some of this stuff on my camper caulk and the next day I noticed the gel coat near the caulking was so shiny and new looking I could not even believe it. I even tried to wipe it off with a wash and it is remaining shiny and clean in that one spot. I dare wonder this, but it almost seems as if the spray and forget ate away the oxidation. I do not even know if this is possible or how to really verify.

    Could you imagine haha....

If spray and forget does what you think it will be a gold mine.
