Re: Tried my 2 new polishers today

So what’s the update? Did you try using it without the washer mod? What do you think?

Re: Tried my 2 new polishers today

Yes. I also switched to thinpro pads when using it.

Much less vibration. Still a lot more than my Rupes 21ES or my Torx 10X but it doesn't feel like it's trying to rip my arms off anymore.

Other than that, very disapointed with the performance. It stalls a lot more than my Rupes ever did on curved panels. The reason I purchased the 15 instead of the 21 was to be able to use it on curved panels and it's simply not delivering. Most of the cars I see are germans, and I think the German people have a genetic need to put curves on every single panel. So on most jobs, I have to switch polisher if I want to be able to work.

Also the machine is not as efficient at cutting. Where I could remove sanding scratches in 1 pass with the Rupes 21ES, I not have to work the panel for several passes and often it's stil not enough and I have to rework the area a second time.

So if the Rupes 21ES w/ 5" pad is a 9/10 for me (looses 1 point for stalling on curves panels, everyting else was perfect)
The Griot's G15 is an 8/10 (would be 7 if not for the amazing warranty and support)
The Torx 10X would also be an 8/10 (lacks the power because of the short orbit and the electronic start is something I don't like about it, everything else is stellar)

So I might just have to purchase a Griot's G21 down the line. I am hoping it will be able to match the performance of the Rupes 21ES

But for now I will do with those 2 (and my backup Porter Cable).
