Well said. Also I think its Mike Phillips who stated instead of saying which polisher should I get, it should be which polisher should I get first.

I own all Flex/Rupes/DAS(Griots) types polishers and the three most used are the Mille, 21 MKII with 5” bp and Mini.

    Mille churns and burns!

I love the pressure you can put on it to remove stubborn defects.

Used mine again today alongside my 21mk2 and PE14 rotary to knock out a pretty serious compounding step after wet sanding!

Mille is a great tool, and a lot more smooth than what you may expect from a gear-driven orbital!

Re: Rupes Mille vs LHR15 Mark II

    Bumping up this thread Again.
I use a rotary (makita 9237c) and mini polisher(shinemate ex603) now was planning to add a polisher to finish better. So firstly thought 21mk2 with 5" bp but then thought 15mk2 as it will finish better and more verstile... now wondering if mille can serve better purpose keeping prices of both these are same and mille being latest tech... I really dnt have any idea of these dual purpose machine... so far my main purpose is better finish, final finish but if really liked you never know I end up making it as my main tool for correction as well...

P.S:- Is there any near plan of rupes to bring mk3 after this sema?

    TIA

Re: Rupes Mille vs LHR15 Mark II

The backing pad on the mille is held on with screws recessed from the pad face into the machine? Does that have risk of a screw vibrating out and falling on the panel surface?

I just have a 3" Griot's and a HF 5" setup. Looking to buy a quality unit. I have heard Rupes is it. The above screw thing is kinda messing with me.

I have never used the Mille...

But the LHR15 Mark II is a PHENOMENAL machine.

It’s my favorite machine of the entire lineup!

It’s a very well-rounded tool assuming it’s my one and only machine. Also it’s very capable at defect removal.

A very safe machine. Slight learning curve, but easy to learn the technique involved.

Nothing like that, rupes won't design it with such silly problem and so far no one had this issue. Although many member here wants/recommend changing screw to allen screw as they find it easy to swap plates, better to work and safe..

That's what boggled me about the screw thing. Would not think they would have designed it like that. I miss understood someone describing it to me. I don't mind spending 300-500 on a machine, I just want high quality and longevity.

Have not seen the Mille, but doesn't your pad cover the backing plate? If so, how can a screw if it should come loose bypass the pad?
