About to pull the trigger on a Rupes 15 but.....

Got a 15 in cart ready to go but after reading several posts re Rupes crapping
out after a year or less!

Are they that weak terms longevity? Only a one year warranty?
    Should I be concerned?

I ready like the Rupes but....I can do without the headache and not to mention---$$$$ as well!

Maybe just go with a griots 15? Dang---decisions, decisions!

The griots is not bad but its the Rupes pads I really like! Can I run a rupes pad on a Griots 15?

The Rupes is super smooth and quiet and very dependable. The threads of a machine needing repair normally have a hidden simple repair that gets fixed and then we don't hear about the easy fix.

    Wing,
That's true---We always hear the bad stuff and never the good parts. I'll keep that in mind.
    Thanks for that "view point".

Twho of the biggest high end production detail shops here in the metro Detroit area work their Rupes tools day in and day out.

One of my friends (who works for one of these companies) had me help him dial in a procedure one day, and I used one of their original 21 es models....

Man, that thing was put through the wringer, and was performing like a champ. These places are prepared for repairs by investing in extra machines.

When I visited Dave at Sportiva one of his techs was busy polishing with one of their tools as Dave showed me one that was being sent out for repair.

Personally I don't see why you would get a Rupes when the Griots is just as good and has lifetime warranty. I recently had to replace my GG6 after 4 years if use and the warranty process is so quick and simple.

What color you like better? Orange or Black? Both are good machines.

I was torn on the rupes 15 Mark ii and GG15 or 3401. Lots of reading for weeks, picked up Mike's book on the rupes. Can't go wrong with Rupes or GG, both have fan base of course. I was looking for real world experience and not just opinions. I've used pc7424 for years, my arms are tired after full day of vibrating, it's heavy working side panels all day. I wanted something smooth and a system. Who doesn't like to hear lifetime warranty ? Also considering the post about ppl with problems with Rupes always tend to hear the bad and ppl jump in, but how many people don't have a problem. My Rupes 15 Mark ii is being delivered today. The difference in price to me isn't a deal breaker.

Thanks all. Your response helps a lot!
I think I'll stick with the Rupes.

If the two companies have some similar products, why not go with the one with a longer warranty?

Because I've tried both Griots and the Rupes 15. Both are very close with the edge to Rupes. Rupes is smoother, pads I love a lot and really like their system.
I am getting the Griots 6 inch and the 3 inch as well.
Will have a balance and the best of both...
