Agreed, I think the people that are "new' to rotary use don't really know what models have the "soft start" nor the weigh of each machine.

I love mine. It's a fantastic machine and does everything I need and more. As far as finishing it is great but finishing properly with a rotary is more skill oriented than machine oriented.

is there a link i can go to or advice on how to prevent holograms in the finish and should i also pick up a finishing polish such as po85rd or will m205 be good enough. thanks

I've been a rotary man for over 50 years and always will be. I have good friends in the body shop business that use the 3M system.
I have used their system for many years. For a long time they had two foam pads but then they came out with a third blue finishing pad that will give excellent results with their finishing glaze.
I've seen my friend get a mirror finish with a DeWalt, 3M pads and glaze. Check it out, if you know any body shop guys more than likely they are using this system.

It's all technique and lots of practice. Best advice is grab a BLACK hood or large panel at the junkyard and practice.

I have one and love it, its what i use 95 % of the time. ONly time i use my da for is door pillars, or colormatched grills. I even apply wax with my 849xp
