Microfiber pad vs Foam pads on a rotary buffer

Hey guys I currently have a rotary buffer with foam pads, I have used it a couple of time with prety good success on spare practice panels. I have not tried to do some real cutting but instead mild cut and polish with decent results, I'm trying not to damage my panels too much.

I was looking at the optimum microfiber pads and was wondering how do they compare to traditional foam pads? Do they provide a larger safety margin or are they more aggressive when compared to foam pads? I've been browsing alot lately through the AGO store and came across the Meguiar's DA MF system, would be nice if they had something similar for the rotary guys.

We're you planning to use the microfiber pads with a DA? It of course depends which foam pad you compare it to but, for the most part, mf pads provides more cut and generally will last longer than the cutting foam pads.

mf is more aggressive than foam so it is best used for the cutting stage with a smat polish like M105, D300, or the optimum compounds/polishes.

They finish better on harder paints. The haze created on softer paints can be cleaned up quite easily with foam during the polishing stage though.

if you are using a rotary, you'll be flattening the mf pad fibres out which will reduce their effectiveness a bit. Optimum pads reportedly were designed to be used on both DA and rotaries however.
