    Backing Plate Stuck on Makita...

I have a 6" ( I think) AG backing plate. I have had it on my makita for about a month or so now, and when I went to remove it today, I could not get the stinking thing off! I put PB blast in the threads, twisted the hell out of the damn thing, and I cant get the bugger off.

Any tips on removing this backing plate?

Weird,I just depress the shaft lock and twist.(righty tighty lefty loosey).Backing plate facing you turn counterclock wise.
Does the back plate have a hexagon on the back for a wrench?

This is an old post but I just ran into a similar issue. I sprayed a little wd-40, then placed the rotary, plate side down, on a microfiber towel then twisted the tool rather than trying to twist the backing plate. Came right off.
