    Any tips, advise or recommendation?

    I will be doing a semi complete or complete 3 step tomorrow.

    Step 1 : Wash the car
    Step 2 : Clay bar
    Step 3 : Cutting
    • Professional Paint Restoration System (Rubbing Compound)
    • Using Rotary Buffer (Hoyoma)
    • 5" Buff and Shine (Flat - Orange)
    • Speed is 1000-1500

    Step 4 : Polish
    • Professional Paint Restoration System (Finishing Polish)
    • Using Rotary Buffer (Hoyoma) or Black & Decker orbital?
    • 5" Buff and Shine (Flat - White or black)
    • Rotary speed Speed is 600
    • Orbital fixed speed

    Step 5 : Wax
    • Collinite 915 (Marque D'Elegance)
    • Black & Decker orbital or via hand
    • Black pad (if i don't use as part of polish)


    Most likely I will do a spot test (my trunk)

    Now my question is in Step 4, should i break it down into 2 step?

    1. Step 4.1 use rotary buffer with white pad (using mother Finishing polish)
    2. Step 4.2 use Black & Decker with black pad (either use the same finishing polish or use the excess sonax 3 polish\wax)


    My only concern is that if i use the black & Decker as Polishing, it will not remove swirl marks cause by cutting.

    Buying a DA\Orbital with speed variable is out of the question.

    Appreciate your comments as I'm afraid on holograms

    without a da is making this painstaking task not fun.If I understand right on what tools you are using,I would not go the rotary route with rubbing compound.3 options would be to stick with the orbital with a cleaner wax or a mild polish if the orbital has enough orbits to do the job.second is doing it by hand and make the best of it.Third is to wait till you can get a da.If your skills are pretty good you can finish down with a rotary,but you will still get light halograms in which you can keep your paint topped with 915 to conceal them.

    Noted on this but DA is not an option now, maybe next year...

    Why I wont us rotary ung rubbing compound? As i read most here advise for cutting but not in polishing...

    I can leave with scratches but not with hologram

    Try a section with your method,then wash the area with soap or 50/50 alcohol then pull it outside and see if that combo will work for you as far as halograms.

    What kind of soap?
    What is 50/50 alcohol? 50% alcohol 50% water?

    With all the new machine out there the rotary is obsolete using it as a paint correction tool.With a da 2 steps and a topper and done.

    If $ is tight, you can buy an inexpensive da that'll do the job from a place with hf as initials. Look for coupons. I started off this way and upgraded with a good one off of here when I could swing it. Now I have the cheapo dedicated to use with 4" pads.

    What type of vehicle will you be working on? What is the condition of the paint?

    The worst car I've worked on was a long neglected Subaru wagon, and even then I had no need for a rubbing compound. Meguiars Ultimate Compound did the trick. I still have a tub of rubbing compound in the back of my cabinet somewhere and that stuff is so aggressive, I have no intentions of ever putting it on paint.

    All things considered, you may not need to go as aggressive on the correction as you're planning.

    I will be using mothers paint restoration (rubbing and polish), they say it is comparable to Meguiars ultra cut compound

    Car is toyota corolla (2001)

    It says scratch remover, rain spot etc
