How do YOU restore headlights?
I am not one for sanding. I recently restored headlights simply using M105, M205 and a protectant. No hazing, oxidation or swirls left on it.
I did use foam pads for it, so i was considering buying wool pads.
What do you find is the best way to restore headlights?

Re: How do YOU restore headlights?
It depends on the condition of the lenses and the purpose of the refinish (prepping the car for sale, etc.). If the lenses are in bad shape, particularly cloudy, I find sanding them down and clear coating much, much easier and less time consuming than compounding and polishing. Also, re-clear coating means less maintenance down the road: no need to keep cleaning and re-sealing every couple of months. A proper hard clear coat should last at least a year, more likely two or three.

I was looking at the DP protectant spray to seal them after. I saw a YouTube video where a kid sprayed clear gloss on the headlights...I didn't know what to think

What sealant do you recommend? I was probably going to use poorboys super cut with a wool pad followed by 205 and a foam pad but Idk what sealant to use.

Sanding grit and sequence depends on how bad lights are
Then compound and polish...I use Menzerna 400 with orange and menz 4000 with white
Seal with carpro DLUX...watching longevity to compare with minwax method used previously.

i was looking at Jet Seal 109 and Opti seal but they're expensive. I'm kinda leaning towards the DP protectant

Many headlights just require more work then compounding / polishing alone to restore the clarity, sometimes sanding starting with as far as 400 or even 320 grit for extremely trashed lenses.
