Meguiar's Super Degreaser on Interior - Bad Idea!
All,
I was cleaning some grease off of the door panel of my 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix and grabbed what I thought was diluted APC. However, I instead accidentally picked up super degreaser (4:1). The grease came off easily. However, the super degreaser caused the adhesive under the vinyl to dissolve and gas, so the covering started puffing up like a balloon. I had to poke a small pin hole to let the gas out. I pressed the vinyl back down and it appears back to normal except for a small pin hole.
Just a warning to everyone to label bottles and do not use super degreaser on car interior or vinyl surfaces.

Nice catch! Hope there will be no permanent damage--Pontiacs' value should increase as the years go by.

Did you try the APC after? I wonder if APC would do similar, super degreaser is not that much stronger, makes me wonder - and we have 2 GP GXPs coming up, so this is perfect timing!
However, I don't think Pontiacs (especially GPs) will increase in value for a long, long time

Yeah, especially not later model Pontiacs. The market is absolutely flooded with them and for the most part all they are is plastic on top of more plastic.
For the record, properly diluted Meg's APC/APC+ works great on GM interior materials like those found in the GP GXPs you'll be working on and won't harm them at all.

very very interesting .... I have had a secret weapon for a little more than a year and its called Megs SD at 4:1 for interior vinyl surfaces!
It kicks Megs APC's butt as it does the same work but with a terry cloth and where as APC requires a brush.
I have never encountered any issues with what you are saying ... and I have done plenty of GM vehicles and a few G6/G8s ....
I wonder if this is a isolated issue !?!?!?!?

I thought it was cool how it gassed and made a bubble

I saw an early 70's model yesterday, the paint looked great!!! It was very reflective and very clean (I noticed the door jambs when he opened the door). The only thing I didn't like was the 21" rims he had on it but that's personal preference I guess. I do give him props for the up-keep of it though!!! BTW, glad to know about the full strength Megs. Thanks

The interior was very hot so I am wondering if that also played a part in the issue.
