    Products for VW Jetta

I have heard in the past that VWs typically have a hard clear coat. I'm curious on what pad/polish combos people have had good luck with on this type of vehicle. The vehicle is a 2002 and I have a Flex 3401 DA.

The car is a daily driver with RIDS that I don't expect to get out. I'm just hoping to get the minor swirls and maybe a couple of the more minor scratches out. I don't have any good pics right now illustrating the condition (my photography, along with my detailing, needs work as well).

    Thank you.

The safe answer is 105/205. I know it may sound like a broken record but it sure does work with the right process and across a variety of paints.
So many people say VW paint is soft but my black 07 GTI seems to be in the medium range.
Next week I'm buying an 04 GLI in Tornado Red and very excited to see what kind of turnaround I can acheive on it...not to mention it's kicked up with a full APR stage 3+ kit! yee-haw!

Thanks for the info. I always hear that is a combo that works for many situations. I have also heard that it can take a bit of getting used to. Have you found that to be true? Any tips?

I have a Flex 3401 as well and have got great results on my Audi with Menzerna polishes. I recommend this kit, which should be able to handle just about anything- Menzerna Power Gloss, Power Finish & Super Finish Bundle with Lake Country Hydro-Tech 6.5 Inch Foam Pads.

I rubbed my finger on my 02 Passat to see what the speck on it was and the light dirt around it scratched the CC real easy so I don't think it's a hard paint.

I used Menzerna intensive polish and micro polish and took off all the swirls and water spots. Followed it with 3 coats of KSG and 1 of WGDGPS and the paint looks amazing! This was my first ever machine polishing too. (With a PC and LC orange and white pads)

My wife has a 02 Passat, they do have a very, very hard clear coat.....Menzerna is the way to go, tried 105 & 205 Megs...but the Menz gives a much longer working time....and trust me, on hard clear coats.....you are gonna need it.

Thanks for the continued feedback. I don't have a ton of experience, but in the cars that I have done, I found the Jetta to have a very hard clear coat. I have been using some Menzerna products and so far, I really enjoy them.
