    Clear Coat Wheels

I'm not particularly happy with the polish that I use on my clear coat aluminum wheels. The product is promoted to last 6-7 months but I only seem to get 60 days out of it before requiring a reapplication. In addition I think the quality of protection is minimal. What's your favorite product for ease of application and long lasting protection?

    Re: Clear Coat Wheels

I have large 22 clear coated wheels that are a pain in the rear I put 2 layer of cancoat on i had some left before winter. It really made them easy to clean in winter I just go to touchless the wheels looked 90% clean a little echo and microfiber got the rest. in a couple areas I left high spots of cancoat to see how long it would stay there well it’s still there. I’m gonna have to sand it off. I just bought opti clear coat restorer I got sick of polishing the if the restorer last a year I’ll be thrilled. I’ll probably put a coating on top of clear coat restorer. Just waiting for the nicer weather.

    Re: Clear Coat Wheels

IMO there’s no need to protect clear coated wheels because wheels aren’t exactly known for developing crows feet, fading, clear coat failure, or any other issues that plague the clear coat on the panels of the car. Modern OEM wheels are among the most bulletproof part you’ll find on a vehicle.

Besides, you’re going to have to clean them regardless so since there’s no avoiding it I choose to make the cleaning part as easy as possible and that’s why I reach for Megs Wheel Brightener for my regular maintenance wheel cleaning.

If done every 7-10 days or so it’s as easy as a quik spray on and rinse off and they’re done. D143 on the tires + D140 on the wheels. No need to even scrub.

    Same for my chrome wheels.

    Spray, rinse, blow dry, done.

The only product that will repel brake dust and keep wheels clean for weeks is made by AA and only available OTC. No other product exists.

I love that AA product. Too bad it’s so hard to find around here. It’s a godsend on Mercedes wheels

For all the crap people like to talk about AA... How come no one can duplicate what they’ve done there.

I just wish the product was as commonplace on the shelf as their protectants. I once thought it was discontinued but then I saw it again and grabbed it.

That’s weird, it’s always on the shelves by me.. They changed the label but otherwise it’s always there.

Not a big market for it around here I’m afraid. no one wants to wash their car let alone treat their wheels.

So what does the AA stand for? Is that an abbreviation or a brand name? What chain of stores might be more likely to carry it? Thanks in advance.

Armor All. You might find it at Walmart or a car parts store.
