    Menzerna Fast Gloss 400

Hi all, I was wondering if using a clay bar is recommended prior to compound(I am looking at Menzerna Fast Gloss). Thank you!

Yes, not just for FG400 but before any correction with any compound and polish.

Definitely clay or synthetic like nanoskin should be used first before any compound or polish to remove embedded dirt. FG400 is a great product!

The car is less that one year old. Just want to make sure. Thank you for the quick response.

For that age the car should be in good nick, SF3500 or PF2500 should be tried first on a test spot. You donot want to remove excess paint unnecessarily.

To determine IF you need to clay (and at 1 year old I am sure most would agree the result will probably reveal you do need to), do the 'baggie test'. Here are 2 articles Mike Phillps wrote which are well worth the read (is there anything he writes that isn't?)

The Baggie Test - How to inspect for above surface bonded contaminants

NEW - Even show cars might need to be clayed...

Zubair is also right - performing a test spot to determine the least aggressive method you can use on your car, on that day, to get the results YOU want, whilst leaving us much paint as you can on the car.

    Another Mr Phillips gem.
