Review - Griot’s Garage Tim’s Dirty Spots Wipe Down Towel

As silly as this may seem, I was pretty excited the other day when I saw AutoGeek started carrying Griot’s Garage Tim’s Dirty Spots Wipe Down Towel.

This was one of the very first microfiber towels I bought when I decided it was time to take my weekend detailing routine to the next level.

3 years later, I still use Tim’s Dirty Spots Wipe Down Towel after every 2 bucket wash!

Here it is in action this past weekend:

    On door jams:

    Trunks:

    Gas cap areas:

Ahhh the end of wash stretch:

Once finished, I’ll pre-wash the towel in my used 2B rinse water, rubbing it against the grit guard to knock of as much grime as possible before machine washing:

    Gunk from the trunk:

    Much better already!

Seriously tho, I love this towel because it’s just the right size to fold up and hold for drying those small areas. And as you can see it release dirty very easily - I’ve never noticed a stain after machine washing it.

If you want to save your premium plush mf’s and are looking a dedicated mf for those grimy areas this is it!

Does the stitching seem to be rough at all? From the GG towels I've tried, they all had coarse stitching. Almost like it was fishing line.

Griot's Garage reworked their entire Micro Fiber product line in early 2014. Recognizing that some stitching commonly used on Microfiber towels may contribute to scratching, we went to all radiused corners. That eliminates three potential scratch points, where towels are commonly torched to fuse the fibers and prevent fraying.

PS, THE TDST edging is soft and won't contribute to scratching.

Our Ultra-Premium towels received a silk-satin edge, which is more costly...but eliminates all scratch inducing issues common with lesser quality towels.

If you all haven't tried them yet...suggest to check out our new PFM Towels. They'll blow your mind.

Thanks for the reply Jeff. I will add some to my next order along with some of your new glass towels.

Just throwing it out there you can get 36 towels for $15 at a certain bulk retailer. At that price you can just use them a few times then toss them or whatever. The Griots do have a nice waffle pattern though.

Just as follow-up, I wouldn't say the edging on my towels from 2012 have a sharp edge.

Then again, they have been washed a whole bunch so they maybe a little softer now?

I think the OP should get a brand new towel from GG for being a swell customer. Oh and Billy should get a new Boss 21 for being handsome.

Angus, are these like a regular waffle weave, or are they different. Years ago Wal-Mart used to have WW dish towels that were really cheap, and that's what I use for jambs, but they get stained and don't come clean the way you demonstrated.
