As soon as I was done with a towel I threw it into a bucket of water mixed with DP Polishing Pad Rejuvenator.

The towels are still soaking, haven't had a chance to wash them yet, hopefully they will be okay.

I detailed a Range Rover over the weekend using the BF Paint Coating. Will be posting soon.

Nice coating, a little goes a long way. I noticed that when wiping down the high spots you should change to a clean side of the towel often or it can get a little grabby.
    Thanks Frank!

Will be on the lookout for it.

Different chemical compositions. But both are coatings.

    Perhaps someone can expand further.

    Nice review and video Mike!

I'm curious what the time frame was between being applied to the roof, when you noted the streaking and when you got it out. Trying to gauge the cure/open time compared to some other options.

Did you use the same wedge applicator for the whole vehicle? If so, were you getting consistent results with it or did you have to adjust your application as the wedge got loaded up?

    Thank you good sir.

I try to help out when and where I can. I truly enjoy doing this.

No more than 30 minutes. This Coating was very forgiving IME. I remember the days of applying OC2.0 and it was not as forgiving if that helps.

I did use the one applicator for the entire vehicle. Being my first time with this particular product I wanted to lay down a small bead of product to prime the applicator and being working. Boy was that overkill and led to the heavy application on the roof.

When starting out 3 small drops on a fresh applicator is sufficient to get started with. After that a drop or two is all that is required to continue on.

One thing I want to try out is using a suede cloth over the LC wedge to reduce over loading the applicator. This should help in application. But on this review I wanted to document exactly how it would be performed as in a box stock process without modifying anything.

I finally had a chance to watch the video last night. It answered all the remaining questions I had on the application of this coating. Actually watching someone apply the product is extremely helpful.

    Thanks!

This new coating product from PBMG is what is expected from the BlackFire lineup. The break neck whiplash inducing shine we have come to expect from the product line. Hopefully the complimentary maintenance products will be added to maintain the BlackFire Coating such as a coating detailer and coating booster…
BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating Kit

    BlackFire Coating Pros:
Lays out very nicely due to being so thin
A little goes a long way
Flashes nicely after being leveled with mf towel
    Noticeably darkens surface

Cons: Very watery and easy to over apply if not careful

    BlackFire Paint Prep Pros:
Smells like cologne making it enjoyable to work with during the paint prep process
Spreads easily and flashes within a workable time frame.
Leaves surface ready for Coating application

Cons: None that I can think of

This Focus ST was in decent condition being fairly new with roughly 2K miles on it. This Focus was the perfect test bed for this new coating review.

Wheels cleaned with Meguiar’s D143 Wheel & Tire Cleaner
    Wheels deconned with CarPro Trix
Washed with Carpro Snow foam shampoo
Clayed with Meguiar’s Blue clay/D155 Last Touch

Paint polished with 3401, White Hybrid, BlackFire SRC Compound as a one step
Smaller areas hit with GG3, 3” Tangerine, BlackFire Compound

Paint wiped down twice with new BlackFire Crystal Coat Paint prep to ensure a clean surface prior to being coated with new BlackFire Crystal Coat Paint Coating

Wanted to show the application video first www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UXF7bD34Zs

Now I must say that this was my first go round with this product and really over applied the applicator when going over the roof when starting out. You will see the streaks on the roof as I didn't get them with the first swipe of the mf towel. After catching that the roof was wiped again to make sure no excess coating was left behind.

Now here are a few before pictures just to capture the condition of the vehicle.

Here we are after the BlackFire Coating application

    Hope you all enjoyed.

Great job along with your review and application!! Is that Bitburg in the background?
