just got my wheel woolies...now disappointed ....

So i had made an order for the 3 pack and one of the bent ones about a month ago. The descriptions on AG said the 3pk were made of wool and the other was synthetic. I remember this because i was debating the cost, and wool being more expensive, i convinced myself to buy them. (AG listing for the 3pk is now gone)

The 3pk was backordered but i received the bent one with my other items in short order.

I received the 3pk today and they are definitely also synthetic. The package also says synthetic fibers. I remember that the AG specifically said wool, which is the main reason i bought these (quite expensive). I was ok with the bent one not being wool since its made for the back side.

I am pretty disappointed at this and im thinking that i got new stock after WW made a material change. For reference the CG Amazon listing still says wool. And i almost ordered from there...

Have you contacted AG about the issue? AG is known for some pretty amazing customer service.

Are you concerned that the polypropylene will scratch?

I looked at both the Braun/Wheel Woolies website and AutoGeek website. I did not see "Wool" mentioned on either.

I would think the synthetic material will hold up much better against harsh wheel cleaners.

This is from another vendor, but was the same description on AG when i purchased.

"These brushes are easy to fit anywhere. They are designed and built from the highest grade wool and are safe for all rims and wheels regardless of the finish or shape. Wheel Woolies bend and flex into tight places to remove dirt and grime"

I was hoping someone here could confirm their WW theyve had for awhile are indeed wool.

Wheel Woolies 3-Piece Kit, wheel cleaning tools, wheel brushes

"That’s because Wheel Woolies are soft wool heads mounted on long handles."

The other website must have sold you a different brand, CG WW's are wool that much I know and the WW on AG seem to be as well but I'm sure some use synthetics.

    Good catch.

The verbiage is different on the 3-pack page.

I bought a large Wheel Woolie at Chemical Guys in LA two weeks ago. It has a Braun logo on it.

I think Braun makes them all. Wheel Woolies | About Us

That's highly likely. Much like the MTM foam cannons that get sold under various names. I looked on one of the Canadian sites and it just says "soft, dense carpet fibers". That makes me pretty curious as I bought my set quite awhile back in the US.

What are your concerns about synthetic wool?

Re: just got my wheel woolies...now disappointed ....

I think some are misunderstanding. I bought real WW from AG with the "real wool" description. What i received from AG (after a backorder) was synthetic material from the WW/braun brand. I only spent that much because i wanted wool. Im betting that braun changed material to save money and didnt notify their vendors.

Again, no real concerns except i didnt get what i purchased, and wouldntve spent that much for synthetic on a stick.

For reference, the description on pinnaclewax.com of PBMA ownership.
"Clean wheels with the ultimate ease!
Wheel Woolies clean wheels of all shapes and sizes, and your hands will stay clean! That’s because Wheel Woolies are soft wool heads mounted on long handles. They’re safe on any wheel finish and the wool compresses to fit into tight spaces."

Interesting. I have some wheel woolies but really did not think they were real wool but more akin to how steel wool is not wool either.
