Initial Review: Black Label Diamond Paint Coating

Initial Review: Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Coating
Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Coating

Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Coating is a ceramic coating that creates an extremely glossy, impenetrable layer of protection on your vehicle’s paint. Formulated using the most advanced nano-glass ceramic particles available in a paint coating, Diamond Paint Coating shields your vehicle against UV rays, airborne contaminants, dirt, acid rain, road salt, and other common pollutants that attack your vehicle on a regular basis. Spray and wipe application lasts up to 3 years!(Autogeek.net)

First thanks again to Nick and PBMG for letting me try and test the new line of Pinnacle Black Label 850.

Background on car: This is my 2001 Acura TL, after I got my 2013 Acura TL this car has not got the attention it deserves. After 180k miles and 13 years of owner ship the car has endured some abuse from me. For the last year or so the car has been parked outside and maybe driven couple of times a week. With working full time at my firm and finishing grad school this coating was just the love this car needs.

    Here’s some before pics

Water spots removed with Pinnacle Glassworks Water Spot remover with white pad on Flex.

The headlights need some attention as well.

Lets get started with a nice foam bath with Chemical Guys Mr. Pink followed by a second wash with Iron X snow soap.

Pulled the car into the garage and clayed with Pinnacle Poly Clay with ONR

Next I took care of the glass with Pinnacle glass works, and then the headlights with Wolfgang Uber compound with white flat pad and finished with Wolfgang finishing glaze and red pad; IPA wipe and topped with Black Label Diamond Surface Coating on the headlights. Next started on the paint with DP Coating Prep. I did not do any correction, with the car being so old and plenty of rock chips it wasn’t worth the time. Coating prep was applied with white ccs pads with speed of 4 on a flex 3401.

In a couple of other threads I have noticed the discussion on what’s the difference between the DP coating and this. I decided to do passenger side of the hood and passenger fender with DP.

Application: Applying the Pinnacle was much easier than when I used DP coating on my wife’s car 2 month ago. I primed the new LC coating applicator with the coating and couple of squirts per panel and spread. The product spread effortlessly almost like a WOWA sealant.

The Car is coated and will be sitting in the garage overnight, the new one will be spending the night outside..

Finished random shots from today, the looks is everything Pinnacle Black Label describes: Glassy.

Enjoy I will update with difference if I see them between Dp and Pinnacle.

Would love to see videos of beading/sheeting action with a hose between DP and the Pinnacle, but if that's asking too much I understand. I also found the DP paint coating a bit difficult to apply, with being so used to Opti-Seal and how that effortlessly goes on I was expecting something similar to that and it was not like that at all, it flashes extremely fast, almost too fast in my opinion and it feels like you need to use an excessive amount of product to get adequate coverage. Thanks so much for the review.

How and what did you use to apply it? Also how did you prep? There's application methods and pads that make it effortless. I found using carpro applicators and their suede microfibers really made it effortless.
    Back to the full-time grind.

Thanks for the review Dhaval. Paint looks great.

A bit of topic but what do you think of Lake Country's new applicator sponge?

Washed, DP Prep Polish, then used a yellow foam applicator with 3-4 squirts on the pad then 2-3 per small area (sprayed about 2 feet away), it was very grabby and spread nothing like Opti-Seal, it would flash very quickly. I've coated 3 vehicles with it and all the experiences have been the same, I have maybe 20% of the bottle left.

I'll have to try the CarPro applicator block with the suede microfibers, just in my head that didn't seem like it would work very well... I typically associate those applicators for a more liquid substance not a spray coating/sealant.

    Day 3

Woke up early to go study at the library and it was raining…. BEADING SHOTS!!!

Passenger side has the DP and driver side has BL

50/50 again, you can see the DP side has more water on the surface than Black Label.

Hey Mike, the sponges worked great with the black label paint coating and really impressed me on glass and rims.

When I applied the DP to the second half of the car I did use too much product because I noticed a lot of high spots and streaking.
When I used the DP on my wife's car with the round yellow applicator this was not the case went on easy and uniform with minimal high spots.

Since I bought extras I did try them on the new car with BFCS....defiantly not made for that, too much product goes to waste and it made a mess with high spots.
