Review: Black Label Diamond Paint Coating

A couple of weeks ago I shared a write-up for a Porsche I personally detailed here at Autogeek.

What did you use for a coating?

With over 50 replies to the thread, I never mentioned once what I used for my choice of car wax, synthetic paint sealant or coating?

I was however asked twice in the write-up what I used to seal and protect the paint?

Apologies for not answering your questions...

At the time I used this product it was not public knowledge so I could not share the name of the product or what type of LSP it was specfically...

    But today I can!

Re: Review: Black Label Diamond Paint Coating

    My take...

Pinnacle recently introduced a coating that unlike most of the other coatings is a LOT easier to apply and this makes it a lot more user-friendly. Most coatings are applied using small thin pieces of cloth, this is in part because coatings tend to cost more than waxes and paint sealants and you don't want all this costly liquid soaking into a traditional foam, cotton or microfiber applicator pad as the thickness of the pad will in essence, waste the costly coating.

Applying most coatings looks kind of like this,

While this approach does work to transfer the coating to the paint it is a bit tedious and there's nothing wrong with this for professional detailers with high skill levels accustomed to doing highly detailed type of work.

I much prefer a more simple method using soft, clean foam applicator pads as soft foam always seems more gentle to scratch-sensitive clear coat paints plus after the face of the foam becomes damp with product the product itself provides lubrication as you spread the coating over the surface.

Plus the way the pump spray does a great job of atomizing the coating to lay down a fine mist over a larger area during application.

    Black Label Diamond Paint Coating
What I like about Black Label Diamond Paint Coating is it's a lot more user friendly as far as application goes while still offering all the appearance, protection and durability of a pro-grade coating.

Besides excellent protection and durability, the appearance is a liquid glassy shimmer which most people, if not everyone loves this type of look on their car's finish.

This is a great choice for the serious enthusiast looking for a product that creates a deep, wet shine that really looks wet. It's also a great choice for people that really want a product that will protect their car and last a long time but don't want to make detailing cars a new hobby.

Currently my truck is sporting a traditional paste wax and it looks great but after I return from SEMA I'm going to apply the new Black Label Diamond Coating.

Can the BD Coating be applied over a sealant and/or wax? Is there a "best" look to coat over? Sealant then wax then coat?

Going to assume and say no here. You are going to want bare paint to apply the coating on. After that top it how you please, but it will probably be a waste of product.
