Chemical Guys Leather Conditioners
First Review with pics of before and after so bare with me. Its been said that CG conditioner doesn't really penetrate car leather. The fact is it doesnt, cars nowadays come with what is called sealed leather and many cars even come with synthetic leather called pleather and various other names. My sisters 2012 Focus for instance had coated leather(it is real leather not synthetic). As soon as she got it i offered to clean up the leather seats and condition them. The first day they looked pretty good and the wonderful leather smell stayed in the car for one day, my guess is the new car smell overpowered it. By day two the conditioner was smearing and attaching to pants and was visible on the seats where spots of the conditioner were gone. It was clear the leather didn't drink one ounce of it. Well having a new bottle i couldn't really use for cars anymore i saw that my parents leather couches were dry so i gave it a shot on them. These couches arent sealed and took in the conditioner dramatically. Pics Below
Before and after shot, Right side has two coats of conditioner and left is just cleaned ready for conditioner.
pushing into the leather that is conditioned
This pic is me pushing into the unconditioned part with the same amount of pressure. If you look at both pictures you will see a huge difference.
Cant say that this is the pic of the conditioned part before, but its from the second identical couch on the other side of the room and it looked identical.
So is the conditioner good? For its intended purpose of conditioning leather i would say yes. This product isn't good for coated leather in cars, by just keeping coated leather clean and if you want a protect-ant like leather masters, will make it last a very long time. Opinions greatly welcomed!
