Want to thank Meghan for sending me the samples to try and review. I am an official sealant/tire gel OCD experimenter. Always looking for a great look, easy application/removal and decent but not necessarily extreme durability as I like applying them at least once a month. Wish I had pics to show but daughter took the camera and cellphone pics wouldn't do the results justice.
Wolfgang 3.0 Sealant
Application: Apply on clean, freshly clayed paint. I like applying this by hand with a red foam applicator. Goes on like butter (even the color looks buttery), spreads easily and after waiting approximately 35 minutes to dry, wipes off effortlessly. Nearly the same lovely characteristics as Liquid Souveran. Hint:
You do need to shake the bottle for a while to mix the substance or it will separate. Also, you don't need much and a little goes a long way.
Appearance: Has more of a carnauba wax look than normal sealants but does not mute the flakes on my metallic silver paint. Looks even better after curing 12+ hours. Less of a hard candy appearance than my other fav UPGP. Best to do in late afternoon and let it sit overnight in garage if possible since any moisture or dew will "drown out" the polymers. I've topped it with DWG for extra bling but haven't pulled the trigger yet on the highly recommended Fuzion wax. However, DPGS looks great alone and a second coat will insure proper coverage.
Durability: Pretty good compared to other sealants. I don't look for super durability as I like applying LSPs on a monthly basis--or when killing time waiting for my bride to get ready
Cost: Right now, it's only 29.95 for the 16oz. As mentioned, a little goes a long way and the bottle will last for quite a long time. Therefore, cost per application is very low.
Would I buy it? Absolutely. Right now, it's definitely my new fav sealant, looks like a beauty wax with much longer durability compared to lets say the Liquid Souveran. Very worthy and one of the best I've tried on silver metallic paint.
Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire Gel
Application: Water-based, pink in color, fruity fragrance if that floats your boat. Apply very thinly with tire applicator on a dry tire. Wipe thoroughly into the rubber. Let sit for about 10-20 minutes. Even better to apply at night and sit overnight, wiping off in morning. Lightly wipe with MF towel. A second coat will give a glossier look but not ridiculously so.
Appearance: Low gloss after one coat. Brighter after a second one. Gives an excellent contrast to lighter paint. Makes the tire look like new.
Sling factor: If you wipe off each application, I've found it not to sling at all--compared to Wolfgang's Black Diamond Tire Gel which unfortunately slings like crazy at least in my findings.
Durability: Pretty good. At least as good as Armor All Extreme Gel--and looks better too. AA loses its look pretty quickly IMHO. Pinnacle also does not pick up dust and dirt.
Cost: $24.95. Not a bad price per application at all.
Would I buy it? Yep. The bottle will last a good long time and if you properly apply sparingly and thinly as recommended, the cost per application is an excellent value.
In summary these two products are highly recommended. For high-end boutique products they deliver excellent appearances and are actually economical due to the bottles lasting quite a while.
Hint: I did pull the trigger today on both using the VIP savings code. 20% off always makes me smile.
Thanks for reading the reviews and hope they help when deciding what to buy next.
