Makita DPO600

I was wondering if anyone here has this polisher, as I could not find it with the search button of this forum.

I do have the 3401 however this is a cordless polisher, and for the price it looks tempting.

It looks like PO5000C ?

Anyone to chime in ??

Also it appears that the Flex 3'' backing plate would fit to this machine.

I already have the 3401 (Flex), but wanted to get a cordless polisher without braking the bank.

Most users here are from the USA. The US version Makita cordless is same price as Flex here.

For the same price most are going with the flex (maybe a few would for battery sake but not many).

I’ve been on this forum for a while and have not heard anyone talk about the flex because consensus is the flex is better.

Why don’t you bite the bullet if you wanna save money and try it and post a review?


Edit: did some googling for you. The DPO600 seems to be available in the UK and a little cheaper than a flex.

Flex are way overpriced in Australia, especially the battery machines, so many stay away from them except for the PXE-80.

In terms of usage, I can't comment on the DPO600, but here are some comparisons -

- Makita DPO600 is a 6" machine and is only available in skin form for $449 RRP.

- Flex XFE 15 150 is a 6" machine and only available in kit form with two batteries for $1225 RRP.

- Shine Mate EB351-6 21 is a 6" machine, available in kit form with two batteries is $795, or skin for $395 RRP.

- Shine Mate EB351-5 15 is a 5" machine, available in kit form with two batteries for $779, or skin for $385 RRP.

So, if you are talking machine only, these Shine Mates are cheaper. In kit form, they are much better value than the Flex.

I have the EB351-5 15 and the smaller EB351-3 12, both have been great machines. I would also favor the smaller 5-inch machine over the 6 inch as its more versatile.

Agreed Flex is overpriced, yes an excellent machine - I bought the 3401 in January 2012, when Aussie $ was equal to US$, and ended up paying about $400 with postage from the US (230V model). What a deal !

Nowadays the MakitaDPO600Z is $449 which is really a good value, whilst 3401 cordless replacement is over $1,000

In addition I have plenty of Makita Batteries from other Makita tools and I have zero Flex batteries.

TBH never heard of Shine Mate nor ever seen one in person.

I've learned that Makita is about 400 grams heavier than the 3401 and about 10cm longer.

Makita DPO600Z is actually more than half price than cordless Flex (3401 replacement) - $449 and over $1,000 for Flex.

Makita feels like a very well built tool.

Actually I couldn't resist, bought one yesterday.
