    What is FLUID FILM...

A fellow member asked for a little more info on it and the process, so this is a quick down and dirty explanation of it.

The basics are...fluid film is basically lanolin oil...a few other companies make similar product which is made from lanolin oil.

You need at the minimum of a standard undercoating gun or one of the pro undercoating guns(which come with an adjustable spray tip and different length "wands" aka hoses for the end of the gun to shove into all the cavities. I like to pull the taillights and get it in deep...above the wheel wells, wands are epecially nice for the fords fully boxed frame rails, and drain plug holes of rocker panels, cab corners, doors bed rails..ya get the jist of it.

DO NOT attemp to use any other type of spray gun other than a undercoating gun, also called a schultz gun, as the pressures in a non undercoating gun can cause blow up in your hand/face.

You need an air compressor that will push at aminimum of 5-8cfm at 90psi for the fluid film to automize...or basically spray properly.

A gallon of product will do your standard size pickup truck.

Fluid film will never harden...so therefore road salt and water can not penetrate through or get behind it and become trapped...which will lead to rust, and the continuation the rusting process due to moisture always being able to be present. Thats one reason lanolin oil is so great as an undercoating.

It sprays on yellow but will then turn clear. They also now make it in the color black, but ive never tried that one.

You can buy it a Lowes. My truck gets a new treatment of Fluid Film every autumn.

I think I need a bigger can. We sell this where I work, but only in spray cans. We do sell Schultz guns as well, but for spraying on Raptor bed liner.

Heck yeah it is a great product.

And Big Dave you can use that raptor liner shultz gun since that is a standard uncoating gun... but b4 you shoot raptor liner thru it obviously.

On my standard gun i cut a roughly 20 inch piece of 3/8 inch rubber fuel line and slide it over if of the undercoating gun to use as a wand extension. It does not too perfect but better reaching capabilities than without it

Some of the local yahoos around here have their own version of undercarriage coating. They suggest spraying the entire undercarriage with oil and then find a dirt road and drive as fast as you can to kick up as much dirt as possible. Undercarriage coating solved.

On a few cars that I've had, I used to get a gallon of WD40 and spray the "vulnerable" areas in the fall and again a few times throughout the winter. It seemed to work over the short term. I never kept cars very long and they held up while I had them.
