What backing plate are you using on G8? Is it this backing plate? Or did it come with a new designed backing plate on that machine?

My new 3” mini polisher came with this backing plate but I’m starting to think I don’t like it because I think it’s starting to cut into the edges of some of my little pads. I’m on the verge of switching to that fat Griots backing plate in the 1st pic.

Here’s the backing plate the polisher came with. Does the G8 backing plate look like this or the 1st pic?

It's a vented backing plate like the 2nd pic.

To me, Wash and Coat is maybe a mismarketed product. It does not clean well. You shouldn't have to wash your car before washing your car.

For me, I'd say the longevity is 2 months and counting though so that part it does well. I did end up with some spotting which wasn't too bad to clean off and might not happen with the next usage if I'm more careful. Also with a ceramic soap, is there now potential for wash mitts becoming hydrophobic?

Ceramic speed shine accomplishes the same thing and is easy to use so it's the preferred product for me right now. I have dedicated towels for that.

I could see wash and coat being useful for large vehicles if you foamed it on and rinsed it off.

Id say its best used as a maintenance wash if you clean your car regularly, like weekly. I woudlnt do anymore with it than i would with ONR. if that much.

At ~2.5 months now. I applied it before my car was partially repainted and it's still going.
