Review - Pinnacle Black Label Compound and Polish

Thank you Meghan for sending these out to me for review.

    Products:

    Pinnacle Black Label Compound

    Pinnacle Black Label Polish

    Cost:

    PBL Compound 8 oz $34.99

    PBL Polish 8oz $34.99

Product Description: Click the above links for more information.

Meghan sent me these two products a few months ago. Unfortunately I did not have anything to use it until I asked my uncle If he was willing to let me borrow his car. He agreed and he received a two step process with both products.

The philosophy for this review is based on me allowing myself to only using these two products as if these are the only products I own.

I started off with a test spot with the polish.

The front and rear of the bottle

The polish is gray. It has a thick lotion consistency. I would equate it to the Rupes Keramik in consistency.

Condition of the paint under the scangrip

After 5 section passes on a Griot’s polishing pad, the finish was looking better. The deeper imperfections were remaining. The polish has along working time and an easy wipe off.

    Lets move onto the compound.

It has a lotion type consistency. Similar to Sonax Cut Max in that respect.

After my initial test spot I performed another with a 3D heavy foam cutting pad.

Here is the area of the roof that is black paint that is in need of a repaint at some point. None the less a good area to test show the capabilities of the compound. This area was corrected with a Meguiar’s burgundy foam cutting disc.

One of the doors. This area was corrected with an Americana Global yellow foam cutting pad.

The final result once the car has been protected. White is not the best at showing the end result.

    Final thoughts:

Both products worked well for me. They both have a long working time and they wipe off easy. Both very user friendly products.

The compound worked well on this paint and did a good job with a variety of cutting pads. It finished out well with foam cutting pads. With a more aggressive pad, there is the potential to leave marring and that is dependent on the paint hardness as well. One of the nice things about this compound is that there was no dusting for me. Which means no extra clean up step. Overall the compound proved to be versatile with a variety of pads (foam cutting, microfiber, wool)

The polish also worked well. It did offer a good amount of cut based on my test spot and depending on the hardness of the paint it may be the only step needed. It leaves a nice glossy finish. Like the compound this did not dust for me.

As much as I like the performance of the product, the price of the product is what will drive people away for the quantity. Especially with other brand products that work just as well and if not better.

For those wanting to stay within the PBL line these two products along with the prep spray and coating is one needs.

Review - Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Surface Prep Spray

I have since passed this compound and polish to forum member JustJesus to play around with.

    Nice review, Guz.

    Pretty pricey though......
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.
