You'd never dream of waxing your car without at least washing (and possibly claying), but very few clean the trim before using Back-to-Black Trim & Plastic Restorer.
You should always prep the surface with something. I use an Eraser type product or alcohol before applying any trim coating product.

I’m a fan of the Mothers Trim Cleaner. I often recommend it to people on here.

Not a product I've ever been a fan of. Doesnt last at all even when the trim is cleaned.

I find GYEON Trim 100x better. Will darken faded trim and it will stay that way. I just did a couple that I took before and after shots on. Will post later.

OTC inexpensive consumer trim product vs. expensive boutique trim product is not really a fair comparison..

Gyeon Trim Should work 100x better... Well actually 72 times better would be more accurate, considering it costs 72 times as much as Mothers Back To Black Trim Restorer. Lol.

I do agree with this Forrest! My gripe with back to black isn’t how it restores properly cleaned trim because it does a good job at that. I would like to see the product updated and have longer durability along with superior hydrophobic properties. The look after initial application is actually really nice and new looking rather than the greasy glossy look some trim products leave behind.

Please don’t take this as bashing your product but a suggestion for improvement. The heavy duty trim cleaner is a favorite of mine and a superior product. I love to see back to black match those comments.

    Respectfully, Jim
    Jim

Yes/no. It costs more initially but one and done for 6 months+ and a little goes a long long way and during that time you'll never need to waste any time re-applying it. Add in the cost really isn't much. Q2 TRIM can be had for $35 when on sale. B2B is like $8. $27 isn't much when it comes to my time and not need to re-apply it over and over and over and over and over again like with B2B.

very much agree here. This stuff and its brush was the only thing I could find to get baked on wax out of porous trim. but this is a cleaner. the restorer which i also own was crap.

Mineral oil and a MF Rag will remove it.
